I wonder why they sprinkle out dings rather than just hit the entire listserve of people who have been lined up for a ding for months lol.

Because they can. Yale is the cliche chic flick “hot girl” who does whatever the fuck she wants because she’s hot and cool and everyone will want her/want to be her regardless of how she behaves.

Tho if we keep the chic flick metaphor going, the hot girl is supposed to become less popular or become nice. But I don’t see Yale dropping from #1 any time soon

Received a ding this morning from my Alma Mater. Going to take some time to think about next steps, but I'm deciding between harvard and taking another year off and reapplying to Y. There's no rush for me as I'm happy in my current situation, but it still stings a bit!

No, it's more that I'm not sure I want to go to law school. I have a great career and a great path forward for the next few years, and LS would have to *really* be worth it for me to give this all up. YLS is probably worth it, but I'm not sure about HLS.

Even if you're gunning for academia, your attitude shouldn't be Yale or bust. Getting into academia mainly requires writing interesting papers on topics that are relevant to whatever professor positions are open. Going to a top school is a plus, but the reason Yale is so represented in the field of law teaching is mainly because people who want to teach law tend to attend the top schools.

I'm actually getting a little frightened that I haven't been dinged yet since I'm already pretty much committed to taking the Hamilton at Columbia. I think my fiancee would kill me if I got in Yale and considered going, haha.
