3.4/165/AA-URM Chance t20

Post by Herodude892 » Mon Nov 16, 2020 1:00 am

Hello everyone. I'm applying to a bevy of schools this week and was interested in people's thoughts on my chances of getting into the t3, t6, t14, and t20, etc. schools. Below I posted the relevant information. Thanks.

Type of URM: AA Male

GPA: 3.4

LSAT: 165 (No retake)

Undergrad: UCLA (1 year removed)

Softs: 2 strong LOR from UCLA profs. 1 LOR from a community leader, directed campus-sponsored political debate, started first school-sponsored ESports club at community college, volunteer exp. with a political campaign, various misc. club memberships including ROTC(unfortunately limited in leadership positions outside of aforementioned), part-time(39 hours lol) jobs during semesters.

I apologize if not all of those soft actually mean a lot but better to list them than to not I say.

It's particularly hard to estimate URM odds, but what data that's out there looks okay but not great for you. HYS is probably a waste of your application fee. CCN isn't much better. The rest of the t13/t19 looks unlikely for any given school, but with enough chance overall you could probably expect a taker or two. If you're applying to schools in the 20s and 30s, you should be able to see some offers with $$$ there. It would all get a bit rosier with three more points of LSAT, so scheduling a retake may be a good move.

Your softs are decent. The only thing holding you back from $$$ at a top school is that LSAT score, which is really on the cusp.

Are you going to be in the military? I saw the ROTC.

Edit: I would also retake. I heard that scores are inflated now. Source: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=14955#p456166
