Didn't see one here, so I thought I'd start one. Formatting's gonna be garbage because I'm unfamiliar with this type of forum, but here's some relevant info

Hello fellow UNC Law applicants and admittees! Anyone else here waiting for news regarding the Chancellor’s scholarship weekend?

Have they notified finalists?

I'm in here, but with a scholarship offer that's pretty non-competitive. Shame, of the non-T20s I applied to, I would have most seriously considered UNC with a good one.

Not to my knowledge, hence the question which I apologize is unclear. Last year, people were notified on the 1st of February. The year before, as early as the 27th of January. My GPA is above the 75th and LSAT is between the 50th and 75th. I’m unsure if my numbers deserve consideration but I hear that with the Chancellor’s, consideration is much more holistic? Anyone care to chime in re: knowledge of what they like to see in their scholars?

Hey, don’t give up! I also received a disappointing offer, but remember that they *lowkey* are open to negotiating closer to the seat deposit deadline. Hopefully, UNC becomes a more affordable option for the both of us!

I looked at a few LSN profiles and almost all full-tuition scholarships had both numbers above 75th. I'm above 75th for LSAT and below 25th for GPA and still holding out hope lol.

Can someone explain what the Chancellor's scholarship is and how it works? I can't really find any information on it on UNC's site.

It is a full-tuition scholarship for all three years. Only about 6 people get it every year. Most people who are invited to interview originally received the 17,500/year scholarship.

Right, but I'm wondering if their offering $15K this year to applicants who would have received $17.5K in previous cycles means that some of those invited to interview were only offered $15K?

Also, has anyone been invited yet? I'm unfortunately assuming, with the scholarship weekend scheduled for the 24th/25th, that invites have already gone out. :(

I feel like they might've not gone out yet? UNC has been super slow this cycle. But who knows... maybe they have and no one on LSL/TLS/Reddit got one. I haven't even been accepted, but someone I know who got it got a call and they accepted her and then invited her to interview (this was a couple years ago)

I believe those dates were for 2017. 2018 dates don’t seem to have been announced.

As a $15K myself, I hope so, but I highly doubt it. I would definitely attend UNC with a Chancellor's.

Looks like the Chancellor Weekend was added to the law school calendar to begin on Friday, February 23rd. Anyone notified yet?

Uggh unfortunately not. It's getting closer and closer. You would think someone on here/TLS/Reddit would have been invited by now?

Also, does anyone know if they invite you to interview during the weekend, or just invite you to the scholarship?

Someone on reddit said they were accepted via status checker. Nothing about chancellors though

I know someone who was invited to interview for the chancellors as of 2/8. 157, 3.5-3.6, URM. They had been offered the 17.5k scholarship when they were initially accepted

Didn't realize that UNC was looking for an entire essay dedicated to both topic one and topic two. I submitted topic one and topic three, and then I realized that I should have written a specific essay for two. I emailed admissions and they said they would add another essay to my account if I wrote it, so I submitted my topic two separately yesterday. Really hoping this doesn't hurt my chances :(.

I feel you, but they probably had some crazy good soft metrics. :|

For those still wondering, can confirm via a friend that Chancellor's invites went out a couple weeks ago. Apparently the scholarship for invitees who are not selected has been bumped to $20k/80%. Sorry y'all, best of luck on your scholarship negotiations!
