Michigan's status checker updates everyday. You unfortunately can't tell when you go under certain reviews

hi friends. i'm a current 1L at michigan who used LSL a lot last year during my application process, & i found it very helpful. if any of you have any questions about michian, shoot me a message and i'm happy to answer them. i have my first final next week, so it'll probably have to wait until post finals (dec 21st) , but i promise i'll get to it.

also, for those wondering about the emails from students - they're legit. we have "email-a-thons" where current students are invited to email prospective students so that we can be welcoming. if you're in specific org (like our LGBT+ org, OUTlaws) they send us emails to come join the group in emailing prospective students who listed these characteristics on their LSAC profile so that they feel like michigan's a welcoming place for them, given their identity (which, in my experience, it totally is). also, we do a phone-a-thon later in the year for admitted students where current students call admitted students to talk to them about michigan (i got a phone call from a current student last year too).

some details about me: 1st gen, woman, LGBT+, public interest focus but going the firm route first. shoot me a message if you have questions/want to chat. michigan's a great place and i'm always happy to talk about it! but if you just want general advice in choosing a law school, i can definitely talk to you about all that too. happy applying!! and remember to stay smiling :)

I haven't been accepted yet. If you are accepted, then the status checker would update to say "Accepted." It explains this all in the status checker itself.

I got an acceptance email at 9am (Pacific time). I assume my status checker updated that morning, as I looked after I got the email and it said Accepted and the previous day it still said complete. You'll likely see the status checker update before the email - I think it updates at 6am Pacific.

I'm gonna visit on a non-preview weekend because of my work schedule, but I hope that those of you who go to ASW will report back :)

Did anyone else get a generic email from Mich basically saying your app is still under review, we know you applied early in the cycle, thanks for patiently waiting, feel free to send in additions to your app...?

Should we be reading into this in any way or is it really just nicely letting us know that our app is still under review?

I know acceptance emails usually say something like “congrats!” In the title and rejections email titles are usually like “your application” so seeing that email scared me!

I did, and many others did as well. I wouldn't read into it.

Don’t stress about it. They sent two waves of that same email last year. They do it to try and quell nerves of applicants who have been waiting for awhile, but it often has the opposite effect...
