No to a sample. Pretty sure most people list things out as they would on a resume, with some adding (or replacing with) narrative. I listed all college activities with very brief descriptions. Did the same for post-college with a very brief written paragraph.

People do slightly different things, so as long as you follow the stated directions you should be fine.

How is this different than my resume? I am attaching my resume to the application and it would be weird to just give them the same info twice. My resume has a brief description of my activities on it so maybe I should just list the activities for this question?

Well you need to list everything they ask for, including employment, etc. Even if it's in your resume. After that, it's a personal choice whether or not to include the resume. Some people's might add extra info, others might want it included for the formatting, and others may choose not to add it to avoid redundancy. I'm sure people from all of these categories get accepted and rejected.

I think it's fine to also include a brief description in the activities section, especially if something is not self-explanatory.

Applying to all these schools is expensive. I figure if Yale really doesn't care when you apply, then I can hold off for a few weeks and save some lmao

I applied to Yale two weeks ago! 100% ready to be rejected (and also not sure if I'd go since I'm interested in $$$$). Still though, the preftige...

I agree, the preftige is quite appealing.

Has anyone who submitted an application received e-mails from Yale?
People in previous years reported both an "application received" and an "application complete" email. I haven't seen either after 2 weeks and figured I would ask here before contacting them.

I haven't and I applied the night it opened. I don't think anyone has thus far - this was asked on Reddit too.

They send one email that essentially says "Your app is complete. The next time you hear from us is when you get your decision. Do not contact us to ask the status of your application, as it will delay a decision."

But so far no one online has reported getting even that. Either they aren't sending it out this year or it's delayed?

Hey y'all! Checking in after seeing that TLS died.

I actually emailed YLS about the lack of notification emails. Their response from Nov. 9: "We are still working on fixing our system. You should receive an email in the next few days about our application." So it looks like a technical issue on their side!

EDIT 11/13: Got the first email ("Application Received") yesterday! Hopefully that means everything's resolved.

Anyone else get an open house invite for students from your college and a couple others? Are these going to be the same as the ones they held before for other groups or hosted at individual colleges?

Yes I did! Went on it... idk three weeks ago maybe? Lot of good information and you have your questions answered. More personal and there are students there but I think the presentation is technically the same- at least it was for me.

Got an invitation to apply today. Is this a good sign? (Also, it just reminded me more that I haven't finished this app yet :/)

Same here! It probably took me 4x as long to pick a topic than it did to write the essay. Happy with the finished product, but damn was it a struggle to get there.

With respects to the 250, did you take the time to teach the admissions officers something, or use the opportunity to personally say something about yourself?
