I think they definitely like a Why UCLA? essay. I got accepted within a week of going complete with otherwise average stats (169/3.45), but wrote a separate Why UCLA? as the optional attachment.

I hope we get scholarship info soon.

I think a really strong Programmatic Contribution Statement can help as well. I didn't write a Why UCLA, but my response to the programmatic contribution question was really specific and indicated strongly why UCLA would be a top choice for me.

No, unfortunately, I did not. That was probably my downfall.

Are you interested in actually attending? If you are, you should try to visit there. It will show that you’re actually interested and I’m sure they’d admit you then.

I did that as well. I actually think my UCLA application was my strongest of all my apps, which might explain the quick turnaround.

In yesterday! Complete 1/3, if that helps. Got into the Epstein program as well!
Congrats! Yay for Epstein. I wonder if getting into Epstein will help with scholarships at all?
Thanks! Haven't gotten the mail package w/ all the info yet, but here's to hoping there's some good scholarship money attached to it! Also applied for Achievement as I see you did as well, so hopefully we hear back about those soon too!

Do you guys mind sharing your stats with me? I went complete at the end of December and got in in January but still haven’t heard back about Epstein. My lsat score is a 169 so I wonder if it’s maybe YP? Idk though :(
Hmm I'm not sure if it's tied to numbers -- I know several scholars with a wide range in stats, and I think it might come down more to work experience. In my case, I've been out of school for 3.5 years and my resume is pretty much all PI work, so I think it's more work experience than anything that got me into the program! I am also a URM, so that could have played into it as well. I can still share my stats if you're interested though -- just pm me!

Yeah maybe that’s the case. Idk it’s weird I haven’t heard anything about it though since I was accepted to the school within a week of applying and like nothing from Epstein. I’ve been out of school for a year and my time was spent doing research in the public interest field. I mean in any case I guess I’ll find out soon since it’s out of my hands at this point

I’m in the same boat re Epstein. When I asked about it during the acceptance call it was as if they had forgotten about that component of my application. I’m not sure whether to follow up or how / when they will inform me.

FYI just confirmed that there is no scholarship money tied to the Epstein program. Seems that most of the money will have to come from negotiating if you get more money at peer schools ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Did you also happen to ask when they would start giving out money? I think I remember them saying early March but that's still soooo far

Admit calls are going out today per multiple reports on reddit. Most applied first week of Jan. I applied 1/16 so not sure if I should be expecting anything.

Got the call earlier this afternoon. Went complete about a month ago, just after New Year's.

Was in tears at work, so happy.

Merit or need-based?

If you filled out that form that's due 2/15, it says we can expect to hear back early March.

Mine went complete the next day, but they may just be overwhelmed with apps right now since the deadline was like a week ago. I'd give them until the end of the week at least.

Mine only took a couple days. I wouldn't be too stressed if it's been a week though, there's some schools were you would pray to go complete after a week.

This is merit. I'm under the impression that if you *did* do the longer need-based form, they do that first.
