Hello, everyone! If you're a black student looking for advice about the law school admissions process or any insight into the lives of black first year students at a T14, I invite you to listen to Blacklisted, The Podcast! Blacklisted is a podcast about the lived experience of Serena and Justin, two black first-year law students at UC Berkeley Law (no longer Boalt Law because he was a racist). The first semester has truly been a challenge, and we hope you all tune us and join us on the rest of our 1L journey. The link is: https://soundcloud.com/blacklisted_thepodcast. Keep grinding out the admissions process URMs!!!!!!

Nah. Send in your apps this/next month and have schools hold them until your score comes in.

Agreed although I’d hold that as dependent on what exactly you mean by “boomed” If you’re applying to T-14s and it’s above a 160, my personal opinion is that early submissions/app review may help you more then a feb score submission unless you expect to come out astronomically higher on that retake.

Just for fun: how many schools are you applying to? What is your top choice(s)?

I had trouble with one odd LG and that's usually my best section. I pretty much educated guessed an entire game. RC was hard too IMO. LR had a few tricky questions as well. My plan was to go near -0 on LG to make up for my lack of RC ability that's why I'm concerned.

Without a specific score range or estimate it’s difficult to give you any effective advice. If you want to discuss privately PM me but in general I would encourage you to consider the benefit of a higher score with the detriment of a pretty late application (again with the exclusion of a jump to 170+ from something mid-160s or Lower)

Applying to nine schools, with 3-4 that I took off the list because of money reasons, but which I may add on if I start feeling nervous from not hearing back from schools.

Not set on a top choice yet. It will depend on financial aid and a visit to the school, mostly. I'm from the west coast, so apart from Stanford, it seems like the climate at most T14s will be equally challenging.

I've heard that you can practice pretty much anywhere you want if you go within the T14. Anyone heard differently?

I've heard T14 gives you the best shot to go anywhere however there are definitely some T14 schools that will get you to certain places easier than others and for sub markets (places outside of New York or LA) having ties to that sub market will definitely be needed or preferred. The only exceptions I know of are HYS

I'm planning on doing this as well. How should I ask them?

There should be a section on your app for special instructions where you can tell them to hold the application
