lawschooladmissions.reddit.com has the usual Reddit problem where it's well past 10,000 subscribers and consists mostly of vapid meme posting. It used to be better but this was inevitable.
so much this. i got sick and tired of "give wave" or "get icecream" posts for people gaining admissions to TTTs at sticker or scoring 15x on lsat. also saw a lot of substance posts devolving into trolling just because of probably the type of subscriber base it has.

Half my reddit posts are "don't go to law school or at least none of the one's your asking about"

When I get bored I just spam retake on most chance threads because it's 95% the right answer that no one ever gives on reddit

Also the reddit problem (otherwise covered by Jubo) is terrible thread management. Half the LS admission sub is one off posts that should go in a singular waiters thread. Waiter threads are terrible places, so turning an entire sub into one is even worse

is it planned to have anon posting in on-topics at some point in recent future say early part of this application cycle?

You can post anon, it’s just a little more cumbersome (you have to log out and post as a guest).

Or, as stated ad nauseam, just open a private/incognito window and it'll happen automatically.

ETA: There is no current plan for anon posting beyond the legal employment and other sensitive forums, if that's what you're asking.

Why use a separate forum when a subreddit tends to work just as well/better? The exponential growth of reddit basically kills the need for most online forums.
Reddit is a terrible forum because it's very difficult to reply to multiple people simultaneously, thread management is a joke because, short of sticky-ing a thread, great discussion gets buried (as opposed to bumped back to the top), thus exacerbating the flat-circle problem.

Reddit is great for mindless browsing and upvoting funny jokes/stories/pictures but it's actually a terrible platform for discussion.

The ease of creating throwaways on Reddit also adds to the chaos and trolling.

IME, Reddit still is a lackluster and insufficient resource for law students or lawyers looking for useful advice or discussion--not that TLS or LSL fills that void either (yet)? I guess if you need to get told to retake, then Reddit is ok for that?

For example, the Vale on TLS is 100x better than the countless "what do I do, I'm a 3L with no job" posts on Reddit, each with the identical "it's not over, mass mail and network" replies.

Even this thread viewtopic.php?f=30&t=12091 is better than anything I've seen on Reddit, and that's on DEAD LSL.

ETA - Reddit also lacks easy and quick poster/user recognition which is useful for deciding whether a particular anonymous user's advice comes from experience or is an 0L regurgitating a 5 year old TLS post.

I also haven't seen "exponential growth" in r/lawschool users but I haven't been following sub count.
Also, the dumb 0Ls down vote advice they don't like and no one can see it. I'm telling people not to ED and it gets downvoted so much that no one can see it lol

tried using reddit this admissions cycle but find that sub really bad in terms of advice to 0Ls. i think if lsl wanted to initiate encouraging 0ls to this site for on-topics, they should do so beginning at reddit forum.

I think at the inception of this site, we initially reached out to the subreddit admins to see if they'd be on board, and I believe we got a resounding no?

does one really need their admins' approval? i thought one could create posts at reddit forum and recall seeing posts related to mentioning TLS or LSL links in past cycles there.

sure, but it doesn't have to remain their permanently. needs to be there only to get the word out. and once there are a few regular on topics posters imo it can take off.
i mean, i posted a question in the pre-law forum a few days ago and there is been nothing else in the whole application thread since.
TLS is slow too but i think that is still getting like several new posts every day in each of the lsat prep, chance-me, admissions forum.
