Hiring committee approval
Hi all,
I have been told that the partners in the satellite office of a BigLaw firm are ready to extend an offer to me; however, they need "formal approval" from some other body (presumably the hiring committee).
In your experience, is it common for the hiring committee to reject an applicant in a situation like this?
Please note, this interview process followed a speculative application.
Thanks!

Thanks, this is great to hear.
Do you have any insight into the potential timelines?
Re: Hiring committee approval
No one has any insight so you are just going to have to sit tight and wait.

What timelines are you talking about?BigLawLawyer wrote: ↑Fri Apr 22, 2022 9:28 amThanks, this is great to hear.

How long it will take OP to hear.
None of us can answer that.

Ah, OK. Then you’re right. We can’t answer that.

Haha, I wasn't look for an accurate prediction -- just anecdotes.
Re: Hiring committee approval
For real, if the firm hasn’t told you in about a week, you can ask for an ETA. Unless they already told you a timeline.

Re: Hiring committee approval
Anecdotally, during hiring season, I've heard of committees meeting once a week. Might be less often when it's not OCI season. I would wait 7-10 calendar days before reaching out to the HR person to inquire about a timeline.
