Don't they need to bribe associates to inflate those vault ~lifestyle~ rankings? They need to match ASAP.

Baker Botts matched including bonuses and also seems to have done away with its level system.

McDermott match. Memo theme: ostensible concern about associate wellbeing, tactfully couched in terms of productivity

Won't impact the market if that's what you're wondering.

First time I've chuckled at an ATL article in as long as I can remember.

Well it looks like there isn’t “stratification,” just 2 firms being booted from the market paying club. GT and RS joining the ranks of sub-market biglaw like Bryan Cave.

Not everyone else that was paying the old scale has matched yet though.

If these firms don't match, I'd call that a bit of stratification.

I still can't tell if the summer bonuses are going to be a one-time thing or not...

I was under an assumption they were one-time things. Firms would be giving two separate bonuses a year?

we are in agreement. wondering why the poster above would ever think we'll always get summer bonuses.

we have found out that most firms are sheep to the market, so if cravath or someone decided to give small summer bonuses each year maybe it would change. who knows. most firms have PURPOSELY stated them to be one-time things, but they are basically just hoping that's right.

1. Some firms used to give out summer bonuses.
2. The amounts don't match up to compensate for the preceding 6 months of lower pay at the higher year ranges.
3. I like holding out hope for more money.
4. I have yet to read were they say one-time, catch-up, single bonus, or similar.

Sounds like you guys don't know either.

I understood the summer bonus as STB's way of one-upping the scale without committing to higher salaries
