According to TLS last year emails had been sent on/by July 9. I assume they might come out later this year? As we ended later? Maybe?

If I'm living in the dorms, do you think buying the discounted MBTA pass would be a good investment? I'm not from the area, so I don't know how often I will be going into Boston, for example. The total price for 4 months is $253. Might it be cheaper to just buy tickets using my "CharlieCard"?

If living in dorms/otherwise within walking distance of the school, then you probably won't be on the MBTA often enough to justify a pass. I spent maybe $150 a year on the MBTA, give or take a few bucks.

Hey everyone, is grading blind for all 1L classes? 3 of the 4 doctrinal classes mentions blind grading specifically, but one doesn't say anything about grading. Can I assume that it is also a in that model? Thank you!

Yeah pretty sure blind grading is default for all classes with an exam component

You've probably already decided, but absolutely not if you are living in the dorms. Your classes + your extracurrics + the gym + most of your classmates are all going to be within easy walking distance. In order to break even with the monthly pass ($63.25) you would need to take 23 trips on the T ($2.75 per trip) or around 12 round trips per month. Even if you went on a round trip into Boston every Friday and Saturday, that would be only 8 trips (and as a 1L it is doubtful you'll have enough time to be partying on the town more than that).

Basically, unless your extracurrics/journal/student practice requires you to go into Boston, it is highly unlikely you will make enough trips into the city to justify the cost. Just get a charlie card and add money as necessary.

Will our Climenko Fellow give us feedback/a grade on the Open Memo at some point in December, or will we just have to wait until January to find out our result?

When I was in LRW a couple of years ago I only got (minimal) feedback on my draft. The only feedback I got on the final was the grade when 1L fall grades were released.

I got minimal feedback in the form of handwritten comments on the memo. The comments were not indicative of my final grade.

Got it, so they won't tell us whether it was an H/P/LP memo? I guess that's to be expected. God I'm so stressed.

Would it be inappropriate for a (former ?) Harvard student to wear a Harvard neck tie to a court hearing where they are suing the University?

Are there usually more than a few regular students (not just 1-2 naturals) who do very well at law school without putting in any serious effort and with just taking it easy? Like make magna that is best 10%.

I got a P+ on the closed memo, a P on the open memo, and an H for the term. That is what I meant by my memo grades not being predictive. It is all extremely dependent on your Climenko though. Also, the only person I know of who LP'd LRW literally turned in only an outline of the open memo for their final draft. You have to try for an LP in LRW.

OK here's another question from a nervous 1L: can attendance impact the final grade in a 1L class, when it's not specifically noted on the syllabus? (beyond saying "regular attendance is required for this course"). Meaning, could a professor go in and alter an H to a P or a P to an LP after grading the tests? I had some personal issues this semester that caused me to miss more class than I would've liked. Nobody ever emailed me or anything, though. I'm specifically talking about Professor Mack and Stephenson, in case any of you have had them.

I had both Mack and Stephenson. I got the impression neither of them really factored in attendance and grading is more or less entirely dependent on the exam. I seem to recall the average attendance rate for Mack lectures was something like 70% by mid-semester for my section.

Speaking of which, have you seen the Kenneth Mack Facts blog?

I never had anybody care at all about attendance. In fact, the only class I ever DSed was one where I missed 90% of the classes.

Some people do even for lecture classes (e.g. Suk Gersen), but they will make it very clear what the policy is and if/how it will factor into grading.

Anyone get an H in LRW despite having some typos/orthography mistakes? For some reason my eyes didn't catch them the first time around, but today I saw them. Can good research/structure override some errors, or do only super polished essays stand a chance at an H?
