Is Neal Katyal a 1L professor? What section would I need to be in to have him.
I didn't have him but I heard he is too self absorbed to be a good prof
I had him and your question should be "what section would I need to be in to avoid him"

fuck that guy
Oh really? I found him extremely informative and interesting during his speech at the ASW. Why should I want to avoid him? Also if that is the advice, what section would I want to avoid?

I heard it is generally not hard to sublease your apartment in the DC area. There is also a Facebook page where students in NY and DC sublease their apartments to each other during the summer. Don't remember the name but I know I saw one.
I just wouldn't want to have to flyback to DC just to complete the move-out process in august if I'm moving back to my home state after graduation. I would have to sell the furnitures and I'm not even sure anyone would want to rent an unfurnished apt if they're only going to be in DC for 3 months for their summer associate.

Are there any open grass areas at GULC where people could throw a football?
Yeah. There is a small area between the fitness center and the main classroom building. The softball team throws out there once in a blue moon.

Difficult difficult lemon difficult.

(idk but the conventional wisdom is that a DC-only strategy is playing with fire IIRC. but plenty of people get it even with meh grades)

My impression (based on anecdotal evidence) is that top third students have a solid chance, above median have some chance, and below median it's not very likely. But I know top 15% people who struck out generally and people below median who had DC offers, so there's definitely no hard rule.

Generally speaking, how are take home exams different from in class exams- is it easier/harder more/less convenient? Also, the Fall 2018 calendar says the current take home exam window is 12/4 - 12/13. Does this mean that I will be finished with all take home exams by the 13th or is there a possibility that a professor will say that the take home exam is due later than that window (eg 12/14)? I honestly just don't know how take home exams work

Depends on the exam. You avoid the stress and boredom of all the in-class exam rigamarole, so that's nice. On the other hand, a lot of profs will be like "I gave you 8 hours but this is really a 3 hour exam." You can bet you will be working nonstop for 8 hours. I didn't find either to be better or worse in general, and I don't think I got better or worse grades on either kind.

I'm pretty sure that means all the take home exams need to be done by the 13th in that case. You can always ask the registrar if you want to feel confident about making plans.

I agree with uscg, you'll definitely use the full time regardless of what they say but I didn't notice any difference in my grades from take homes vs in class. I know some people have a huge preference for one or the other but 1L year you can't pick your classes anyways so it's not really worth thinking/stressing about.

Any students have any takes on the different sections here, especially since section assignments just came out? I'm particularly interested in section 2.

For section 2, Spann doesn’t cold call but he can be harsh if you raise your hand. His exam is weird so just do all the practice exams and learn how to take it. Hyman is pretty straight forward and does an on call schedule. If you’re lucky to get DeRosa for torts, she’s an angel.
