2020 transfers

Post by Lightbulb38 » Mon Apr 02, 2018 6:19 pm

Post your stats here and where you are applying. This will be a spot for everyone to check who is hearing back from what schools. Good luck everyone! I have applied ea to vandy and gulc.

Stats: top 1% (fall semester) at a T2.

Applying to GULC, Boalt, Duke, Harvard (lol) and maybe UVA.

3.56 at southern T1, rank unknown until summer (somewhere around top 1/3-1/4 based on last year’s numbers). Non-URM.

High reaches: Columbia, NYU, UVA, DUKE

Hopefuls: Cornell, UT, Vandy

UVA is my number 1 despite how unlikely it is.
Cornell doesn't let students do OCI from what I recall? Have you looked into it?

3.6 at another Midwestern T1.

Hoping for NYU, Columbia, Penn, or GULC.

All are probably reaches, but I won't mind staying where I am if needed.

Just got a call that I'm in at Emory! I was also deferred at Vandy yesterday and I'm still waiting to hear back from GW and GULC both ea. Gonna try for Chicago ED when the app opens and also try NYU, Columbia, and Northwestern if I stay the same or do better this semester.

T1 top 15%

Pretty sure all reg decisions come out after they receive final grades. Not 100 percent tho.

Emory doesn’t have a formal ea like other schools, but they do make some decisions based on only one semester of grades. I submitted at the beginning of March and got an email that I was under review a few days later. I was under review for about a month before I heard anything

I'm not very confident going into finals. I'm sure that I'll stay top 5% or so, but I focused too much this semester on the 1L summer job hunt and extracurricular activities. Also, my significant other has no interest in NY. I may apply to Chicago though...

They'd move to DC, Berkeley, Durham, Cambridge, and maybe Charlottesville but not NYC? dam

Haha trust me, I feel you, but I suppose she has reasons.

Cambridge = her family lives in Boston
Berkeley/Durham= if not close to her family, she'd rather live in warm weather
DC= she is not sold on, and I'm not really sure GULC would be worth it.
NYC= she is worried about the cost of living here.

I need a T14 with good weather that I can actually get into (goodbye Stanford).

I had an interview with Vanderbilt this week. Does anyone have an idea of when decisions usually come after the interview is completed?

T3, 3.6, top 11%, 1 CALI.

Applied to Georgetown, Vandy, WUSTL.

Vandy deferred me two days after interview (very, very strong softs + well above their 75th percentile for xfer gpa's). Kinda surprising, but my interviewer mentioned they have 30-40 EA apps this cycle, which is significantly larger than usual.

WUSTL accepted me a day after my interview (around 3-4PM), although Dean Clifford more-or-less told me I was in during my interview.

I'll likely be off to St Louis next year if Georgetown doesn't come through.

4/3, deferred morning of 4/5.

Feel free to PM me (I'm assuming this is a function here) if you want more specific info.

Haven't applied anywhere, but figured I'd join in anyways.
4.1, school around 100, top 2ish%, considering CLS, HLS, and Penn

In the MVBP range.

Want to start in biglaw, but eventually convert to a more livable job. Litigation or bust.

No reason to transfer if all you want is biglaw. You're guaranteed a biglaw job with top 10% at MVBP. Unless you currently receive no financial aid, then a transfer makes no sense financially or outcome-wise.
