Any Canadians clerking for a federal judge on a TN visa?

Post by ave0801 » Mon Aug 09, 2021 9:20 pm

I have a clerkship with a district court judge and I am anxious about my TN visa letter (under the lawyer category) and interview. Does anyone have a successful TN visa letter?

Have a friend who is a Canadian national (without dual US citizenship) and has done it. Presumably they were on TN then, as they are on it now. However, they had to forgo pay during the clerkship as you cannot be a paid federal employee in the continental US if you are not a US citizen.

Thank you!!! Do you know if the border agents had any problems with the fact that we are unpaid while assessing TN status? I heard Canadian clerks get TN visas but the TN criteria is a bit vague and it's making me anxious...
