How to word follow up/update email now that I have an offer somewhere else?

Post by ThatOneAfrican » Tue Feb 04, 2020 6:30 pm

I just got an offer for a firm in a different country and I have about 72 hours left to accept or decline. But I still have some internship applications that I applied for a while ago that I'd prefer if given the chance. Can I send an update email basically saying I'm still interested but I need to hear back soon because I have another offer?

And if I can how do I word that? (I'm a 2L btw).

When you say an update email, you mean the internships you’re still waiting on, right? That’s how I read it eventually, but I wanted to make sure.

If so, that’s a very common email to send. Say something to the effect of:

[salutation you prefer],

I am writing to provide an update on my application for [position title]. I remain very interested in the position, but I currently have an offer that is set to expire on [offer exploding date]. If you could provide a tentative timeline for your hiring decisions, that would help me greatly in navigating this decision.

Thank you for your continued consideration, and have a great day!

Regards (or other semi-formal salutation you prefer),

Yup that's what I meant. Thank you! This is exactly what I needed.
