Adaptibar Question and Waiting on CA Results

Post by JohnnieSockran » Wed Apr 18, 2018 5:24 pm

I'm wondering how well Adaptibar scores correlate to passing the CA bar. I failed July 17 by a little under 100 points (I think I had a 1343 combined). This time around (Feb 18), I was averaging around 76% on Adaptibar over the final month or so of prep.

My essays in July 17 were a scaled score of 1390ish, but I felt much better this time around (used a tutor and wrote more full essays). July 17, my MBE's sucked both in practice (60-63% by the end doing Kaplan) and on exam day (1280 or something).

Just wondering how nervous I should be about results, or if Adaptibar is usually pretty accurate (which based on my practice scores, hopefully gives me some cushion for passing based on my MBE score).

I was thinking the same thing. Adaptibar definitely helped my score between my first attempt (MBE 110 scaled without Adaptibar) and second attempt (MBE 132 scaled averaging 65% on 1,450 Adaptibar questions). I'll post my results of my third attempt if I failed (CA, so I won't know the score if I passed).

Using the only chart that the NCBEX released comparing scaled to raw, my 132 scaled would be something around 116/175, which is 66%. However according to Joe Seperac's calculations my raw should have been around 104 so that just confuses things more.

Anyway, this time I was averaging 70% on Adaptibar so hopefully I will get 5% more on my old 132 score, making it a 142ish. We'll see!

70%+ on Adaptibar is a good indication of passing.

I got 72% on Adaptibar last Summer and passed July 2017.

I definitely hope so. I wonder if we should just look at the overall Adaptibar score or "adjust" it to give each subject the same weight (like on the exam). I focused more on the subject I was worse at so even if my overall score was 65% (first session) and 70% (second try), my "adjusted" average was actually 62% and 71%, which means that I actually improved almost 10% instead of 5%.

Yes I believe that the improvement percentage is important also. Higher percentages later in the review means you are learning how to beat the test.
