Thank you very much for taking the time to share what you've learned. I'm going to print this. You've persuaded me not to be a lone wolf this fall. Can you please PM me your documents. Thanks again.

I want to study vocab. for three weeks, leading up to first sem. Where should I find a good source for vocab.? S&T for the MBE? E&E?

What do you mean by vocab? You don't get tested on your legal vocabulary, so I'm not sure how this helps. And studying the meaning of words outside of the context of cases won't do you a lot of good.

It certainly would be apt. Can't really learn the anatomy of a case without a case, nor can you learn the case without learning the anatomy. It's a package deal.UVA2B wrote: ↑Wed Aug 01, 2018 10:38 pmIs this where we make a "what is a chicken?" joke?HelloYesThisIsDog wrote: ↑Wed Aug 01, 2018 10:36 pmWhat do you mean by vocab? Caveat: you can, but it's a lot harder and may slow you down.

You don't need to be sure of how learning legal vocab. before school helps or be concerned with how much good it might do me outside the context of cases.

Yeah I do, because there is no such resource. If you're reading an E&E, you're not learning vocab, you're learning the law, albeit without any guidance from an instructor. Also, it won't help. At best, it's a waste of your time, and it could confuse you a lot.cprit91 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 02, 2018 10:47 am?HelloYesThisIsDog wrote: ↑Wed Aug 01, 2018 10:36 pmWhat do you mean by vocab? And, an MBE prep book is not good for learning how to be a good law student. It's meant for people who already learned the substance to drill down into building blocks they have familiarity with. You won't get any hand-holding on vocab in such a book, and it will be opaque and dense (literally and figuratively).
If you want advice, maybe don't tell me how I should give you advice? Chill out and enjoy your remaining weeks of freedom.

I am being very patient with you, and others were awfully nice to you in another thread where you were poised to make yourself look foolish in job interviews.

You should consider not being childish and bratty when people give you advice. It's not a good look and won't serve you well in this profession.

Re: Emkay625's Guide to 1L Success
I mean, dude, if you’re worried about legal terms read Black’s Law Dictionary, but the definitions really won’t mean anything out of context, so just wait and look stuff up when you’re reading cases like everyone else does.
People here don’t just answer questions in a vacuum, they’re trying to come up with helpful advice, which may require reframing someone’s question.

Emkay/all how necessary are the newest editions of the E&E's / other supplements?
