Should probably air your beef with the Penn admin rather than post about it here IMO. No one knows what you’re talking about.

can you draw/post a pic of what you think a "first-year mandatory grade curve" should look like so we can know what we're supposed to get all huffy about

okay i think you're misunderstanding what a mandatory curve means. every law school has a mandatory curve. that doesn't mean that each class's curve must be identical; it just means that the professors have to follow specific guidelines. e.g. 1-2% A+, 3-5% A, 5-10% A-, 20-30% B+, 20-30% B, 10-15% B- and so on with the class average being somewhere between, say, 3.25-3.40.

i'm not sure what you're talking about re: electives but it's pretty normal for classes under a certain number of students not to be subject to a curve.

most classes are on a mandatory curve but some aren't. not sure what your issue is but you should definitely get over it

Those small electives, by definition, don't have a lot of people in them, and it's not like "no mandatory curve" means "everyone gets an A", so a handful of 1Ls taking them doesn't interfere with the goal of a mandatory grade distribution: to get the 1L class to conform to a nice bell curve.
