How hard is it to get a C?

Post by Shabo » Fri May 11, 2018 6:24 am

I know this has been discussed on TLS but I desperately need reassurance. I am a 2L at a t14 going to a BL firm this summer. I took my last final yesterday and I honestly knew only 50% of the course curriculum when taking the exam (and what I mean by "knew" is basic familiarity with the concepts, not any ability to apply it). It was a difficult test for a difficult and highly technical class, so I am certain that, if it were graded like a normal undergrad course without a forced curve, I would receive a failing grade. If the test had a numerical score out of 100, I probably made a 12. Anyway, I am freaking out. I know everyone says getting a C is next to impossible as a 2L, but is that really true?

Depends on the girl and her needs of the moment. If she's drunk, it doesn't have to be very hard for you to still get a solid grade, like a B+ or better.

It depends on the professor. I've heard of it happening, but it's not something people talk about because, well, people don't like talking about getting Cs.

If you already have a job, don't worry about it. But let this be a warning to you--you freely admit that you only had a basic familiarity with connects going into the exam, and that is no one's fault except your own. I've only heard of firms pulling offers a few times because of grades. One C probably won't be an issue, but multiples Cs could sink the ship. Actually go to class and study next time.

You're aware you were warned by the mods not to do this, right? You weren't funny. Get over it and don't post like this in the on-topics.

That wouldn't help him since your joke is not funny. Like, even if we ignore the fact that it's a rapey joke, it's just not funny.

OP, does your school publish grade distributions? (Most do.) That will give you some sense of how frequently Cs are given out.

Also, you said it was a difficult test for a difficult and highly technical class, so there's a good chance that your classmates feel similarly. The curve is likely to save you.

Why'd you say it if you didn't want a reaction?

I never said I didn't want a reaction. I think Nony and I agree that this needs to be dropped now though. Obviously this wasn't the right context for the joke, and Nony and I want to get the thread back on track, but everyone coming here thinking their opinion is so valuable to the conversation is making us moving on impossible. Nony and I have moved on. We ask that everyone else do so as well.

I don't feel a need to take on the burden of arguing with you or answering that question. Anything else?

I didn't say any of that either. Kind of like how I didn't say I didn't want a reaction. I've met people like you before. You present an overwhelming amount of false accusations and then feel like a winner when someone says it isn't worth their time anymore.

You didn’t. I’m ignoring your overwhelming and false claims. Kind of how you’d avoid a known poisonous animal. If you avoid a poisonous snake, does that mean it poisoned you? Quite the opposite, likely.
