Class of 2021: 2L 2 Furious
Re: Class of 2021: we're basically 1.5Ls now
I got back from a callback with an Alabama firm to find a postcard about University of Alabama online LLMs in taxation and business transactions. I think my wiretap is jumping the gun.
Re: Class of 2021: we're basically 1.5Ls now
Hey Y'all! Do we think most of the big law firms have made decisions on initial interviews at this point? I have some local stuff and one big law firm callback, but none in my target cities and I've heard nothing from the DC/NY/Chicago firms I've applied to? Just wanted to see if others had heard back or had any sense about where we were in the process?
Re: Class of 2021: we're basically 1.5Ls now
Others can feel free to chime in, but I'm still getting screeners/cb requests in DC, so that makes me believe that they are moving at a slower pace than some of the other markets. I think you still have a chance, especially if you applied for diversity positions because a lot of those decisions aren't even made until very latepar283 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 12, 2019 4:59 pmHey Y'all! Accepted a FedGov position in DC, and the rent I've seen so far in my housing search is killing me.
Re: Class of 2021: we're basically 1.5Ls now
applied to like maybe 100 places total (at least half were big firms, though), 3 interviews, no offers so far.
Sick.
Sick.
Re: Class of 2021: we're basically 1.5Ls now
I just accepted a "big law" SA for the summer. In a secondary market so I put quotes around big law just in case some only qualify major markets as big law. Either way, I'm super excited. It's the largest firm in my region and I'm in disbelief I managed to pull it without being diverse.

The upperclassmen told me that journal tryouts would be bad, but this is like a hand-delivered gift from Satan himself. I'll be so glad once this weekend is over with.
Re: Class of 2021: we're basically 1.5Ls now
Yikes, y'all are doing that already? We don't do our write-on until after exams. Somehow, this is spring break, though.
Re: Class of 2021: we're basically 1.5Ls now
Ours is directly after finals as well
Re: Class of 2021: we're basically 1.5Ls now
I think they do it so that we don't have anything to worry about after finals, but the downside is that you basically don't sleep for 3 days.
Re: Class of 2021: we're basically 1.5Ls now
Fair enough. They give us the two weeks after finals for it.

Our write-on was over spring break. 7 days in Mexico away from work and school turned into 7 days of some control over how much I slept, reading 500 pages of cases, and adapting to the style sheet that was very different than our legal writing class.

Oh they are evil for making it over spring breakExperiment626 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2019 1:04 pmOur write-on was over spring break. 7 days in Mexico away from work and school turned into 7 days of some control over how much I slept, reading 500 pages of cases, and adapting to the style sheet that was very different than our legal writing class.

Yea, this was one pissed off Evening Student when I discovered this fact over the fall. A lot of my section decided to try grade-on first and write-on next year if needed because of this. I'm doing my best to time my work vacations around school breaks so that I'm completely unplugged and that didn't happen for Spring Break. It would be impossible to do it over a weekend, unless they cut back the reference material, but at least like right after spring exams would be less crazy. I could do a weekend of journal write-on before taking vacation and starting summer classes.law wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2019 6:15 pmOh they are evil for making it over spring breakExperiment626 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2019 1:04 pmOur write-on was over spring break. 7 days in Mexico away from work and school turned into 7 days of some control over how much I slept, reading 500 pages of cases, and adapting to the style sheet that was very different than our legal writing class.

Hey guys! I posted on reddit, but maybe you guys could help me. I'm taking an elective this semester and there are no past outlines for the class. My professor suggested looking at outlines for when she taught the class under a different name and for a different professor that teaches a similar class.
SO if any NYU, HLS, UCLA or WUSTL people could check their outline banks I would greatly appreciate it!
For NYU/HLS/UCLA I am looking for an outline for Prison Law & Policy taught by Prof. Dolovich.
For WUSTL people I am looking for an outline for The Constitutional Law of Incarceration taught by Prof. Schlanger.
Plz and thank you!
