Re: LSAC's Explanation for the Recent Price Increases
That would at least make some sense as far as explaining the price jumps. But that's not what they are promising or delivering of course. For them, this is business as usual, meaning to make $$$.

ABA On Track To Drop LSAT Requirement: What Happens Now?
You may have heard that on Friday the ABA passed the resolution to proceed with the plan to drop the LSAT as an admissions requirement at law schools (it was a close vote too: 9-8). It's not final until the ABA House votes on it (probably in August), but it's getting close to being a reality. That m...

LSAC's Explanation for the Recent Price Increases
I know everyone saw the recent price increases form LSAC, but you may have missed the explanation they sent to the advisors on the pre-law listserv they maintain: At its meeting this past weekend, the LSAC Board approved fees for the next admission cycle. After careful consideration of the cost of n...

Re: September, November, and January LSAT Registration is open
This is robbery. I agree. I'd bet they will say that adding extra LSATs has raised their costs, but if you look at their IRS Form 990, you can see they are sitting on over $200 million in net assets. To raise fees across the board and provide no extra service while facing competition from the GRE a...

Re: September, November, and January LSAT Registration is open
I wonder whether the dates for Asia are correct? I'm not sure because stuff is changing on their site as we speak, and historically they have not made clean transitions when updating this kind of info. It usually takes a day or two for everything to sync up (and sometimes longer). Side note, law sc...

September, November, and January LSAT Registration is open
LSAC has just opened up the registration for the next three LSATs after the July test. Given that September will likely close up in certain areas at some point, early registration is usually a benefit if you have a preferred center. LSAC also increased fees for the LSAT and CAS, by $10 each. Not cool.

LSAC changed the score release date from July 6th to June 29th. https://www.lsac.org/jd/lsat/test-dates-deadlines/2018-2019/us-canada-june Do you guys think this will be the actual score release date or will they still try to release earlier than that? -Hope everyone's prep is going well! Re: Should I retake?
If you don't mind me adding my two cents, I'd strongly suggest a retake. The other posters are spot-on in saying that as a splitter you need the extra points, and the bonus to a retake is that there is no downside as far as applications. Schools don't care any more how many times you take the LSAT, ...

Re: Accommodations Thread
I submitted my request on Monday and received my letter granting my full request yesterday. I think since they were held in contempt they are less-likely to deny people accommodations (for those who need them and those who don't). That's unfortunate about the experimental, I'm looking at a 8-9 hour...

Re: Accommodations Thread
I'll ask the first question: Is it true that those with extra time don't have to take the experimental section? I've heard about that but not sure if it's a rumor. Also, are accommodated tests given on the same days? It used to be standard that Accommodated test takers did not have to take the expe...

Re: GRE scores to LSAT score conversion
Interesting - for what it's worth, I entered my GRE score and the LSAT score it predicted was only 1 point off what I actually scored. Granted, I spent orders of magnitude more time preparing for the LSAT, but still... I've heard this a few times now! However, it always has the same caveat as yours...

Re: GRE scores to LSAT score conversion
ETS released a tool for converting your GRE Verbal and Quantitative scores into a single LSAT score, which is over at: https://www.ets.org/gre/institutions/about/law/comparison_tool Since that tool is just adding two individual scores and thus not so easy to work with, in order to see the underlyin...

Re: GRE scores to LSAT score conversion
Thanks for putting this together! I have been waiting for such a conversion. Didn’t know if it was in the works or not. Any word on if any law schools intend to use this conversion or when it was released to them in the cycle? Sitting on a 170V+164Q which apparently equates to a 174, which is rough...

Re: GOING GRAY (tonight) The Official February 2018 Waiter's Thread
Will it be forever nondisclosed? Like I can expect the curves to be released in the near future? Or will we never know...? It's usually years before the release any of the Feb tests, and 4 years has been the minimum (F96 released in April 2000; F00 released in May 2004). But, and this does not bode...

Re: GOING GRAY (tonight) The Official February 2018 Waiter's Thread
Had to share this beautiful statement from Jon Denning (Powerscore) from reddit. "your LSAT score is a big deal, but it doesn't define you: not as an academic, not as a potential law school candidate, not as a someday-lawyer, and certainly not as a person. For all that the LSAT purports to measure,...

Re: New LSAT Dates!
Do you know, going forward, in which months the tests will be disclosed? Well, to no one's great surprise, they haven't been clear about this. However, we suspect that they will continue releasing 3 LSATs a year, based in part on them deciding that the new July 2018 LSAT this year is nondisclsoed. ...

Re: New LSAT Dates!
FInally - the July 2018 test date is an option when registering for LSATs on lsac.org! Although, it is currently listed as "not available yet." If the test center I took the test in December & February offers this new July test, it's a wrap. Per LSAC, registration for the July 23, 2018, LSAT will o...

Re: The Official February 2018 Waiter's Thread
https://twitter.com/DaveKilloran/status/970028844034879488 Despite all the confusion in that LSAC note over the 7th or 8th, LSAC just directly confirmed to me that it will be Wednesday the 7th (as in the current message on their site). So, they are saying it's Wednesday early evening for sure (which...
