Should we just post our predictions here and then figure out how to calculate after? Gotta get my fix

Yes! Tell us more about your goals. Are you biglaw or bust? How important is location?

In general, transfers pay sticker price at their new school. Your stats no longer help boost a school's stats when you 1L transfer.

Re: Northwestern c/o 2021

What are people leaning towards in terms of living situation? I want to be in/near Streeterville for 1L year but I also have a car. I might try to get a roommate and split a 2x2 so I can afford the $200+ a month for parking. I was planning on getting a 1 BR with my SO around streeterville and not h...

+1 to everything that has been said. There's no clear winner here. Visit Georgetown and pick where you think you'll be happiest
OP, the reason this important is because happy people perform better at nearly everything

being happier will help you both with grades and OCI
+1

Re: Negotiating $$$

Generally agree with above. When negotiating, I recommend you do not make promises you won’t keep. Don’t say you won’t attend UVA w/o more money unless it’s true. You can still ask for more money, and you can say it is an important factor in making a decision.

Re: What makes a good "soft"?

I think the fundamental point of this thread is clearly correct - there's very poor expected utility in ordering your pre-law-school life with the goal of improving admissions outcomes. Agreed. Even if people disagree w portions of OP, the gist that softs are usually unimportant is correct and 0Ls ...

Re: Northwestern Waitlist $

Speaking from personal experience, you definitely can get money off the waitlist. You were most likely waitlisted as a yeild-protect because they thought you would not end up attending. Send them a LOCI and/or schedule a visit to the school to show you are interested. I know you have already visited...

This is also good fodder to use for an LOCI down the road.
Yeah, send them a LOCI! It won’t hurt and it could help.

Re: Meeting with Admissions Counselor

Yes have some questions about the school. Your goal is to show that you really want to attend and that if you got in you would accept the offer. You are trying to put your application at the top of the stack of similarly qualified applicants. It is not the place for you to ask hard hitting questions...

Re: By When Must We Commit To A School

Good point above - you should be careful about accepting an offer this cycle if people w similar numbers are getting much better results/scholarships. If you happen to get good results, however, then great! To answer your question, each school has its own due date for paying a deposit. The deposit d...

Agree w above responses. Also, the reason is 99% likely to be that your gpa/lsat(or gre) was too low. It probably won’t hurt you, so if you need to send it to calm yourself then do it. It’s likely to be as helpful as asking an ex why they broke up with you - only instead of an ex, it’s someone who s...

Re: Sending in a LOCI *and* an Update?

I agree with the responses above. The main goal of a LOCI is to separate yourself from people with similar stats by showing how interested you are, and that you would increase yield rate. You shouldn’t need more than a page to say you are interested and to send a brief update. Single spaced w a line...

Re: Student Loans: Payment Options and Numbers

Putting in 80k toward loan repayment this year. Hoping to wipe away debt of ~200k after 3 years or so. Interest rates average 6.5%. I did not refinance because I am planning to pay off quickly and I want to retain as much flexibility with repayment as possible. Was this a mistake?
