Re: Personal statement (I didn't go with D&D)

Thanks!! By story, do you mean more a narrative "how I got here/here's where it all started" sort of thread? I've been resisting that sort of structure because it's so hard to fit into 2-3 pages. Not necessarily making it into a narrative format, but weaving in more aspects of who you are and your ...

Re: Personal statement (I didn't go with D&D)

I think this is a great start and you write very well. My main objection, though, is that I learn almost nothing about you reading this (except that you like cooking, poetry, and details, and spent some time working at a law firm). A personal statement is perhaps your only opportunity to introduce y...

So you're saying that if I received with my B.S. after the five years, then it should include all five years in calculation of GPA, right?
Yep!

Re: number of years in undergrad and LSAC GPA

It should include all five years unless one of those years was after you completed your first degree. (Like if you completed a degree in four years and then when back and started another degree for the fifth year. In that case, the GPA for the fifth year won't count.)

https://mylsn.info/r/pre-law/admissions/search/ Other than that, spend time on your Why X's (and on your application as a whole), apply broadly, and be prepared to negotiate. I would not advise CLS ED, because I think that means you're out of the running for scholarships. You may want to look into N...

Re: Last few LR and RC points?

In addition to the above, I'd recommend: - Making a word document of every single LR question you get wrong (for reasons not having to do with misreading or misbubbling), typing up an explanation, and going through them until you are consistently getting them right. - Making "packets" that consist j...

Harvard continues to lag Chicago on clerkships huh? Tsk tsk... Re: Score decline?

I'm not entirely sure what you're asking, but the score drop could have been the result of happenstance, different tests, different environment, less studying, etc. Many people who eventually score 17x start out in the 150-160 range so you're in a good place. Spend a few hours every day for three o...

Re: Graduating college early using lots of AP/IB credit

As others have said, it most likely won't matter and don't let that be something that affects your decision for UG. I will add - I suspect graduating in two years and applying as a KJD likely would negatively impact you, at least a bit. This is anecdotal but I've seen a few LSN profiles where the ap...

Re: Dropping a class hurting chances?

I used the 7sage CAS calculator. It says to count all Ws as Fs. The transcript doesn't really say anything to explain it, so not super sure. I'll check ut the website, thank you! I think that would be quite unusual - not sure why 7sage says that. Read the fine print on LSAC. Most likely if it's not...

Re: GPA and UGPA

The failed class will count towards your LSAC GPA. You may want to include a GPA addendum for that. I'd guess that the grade excluded class won't affect your LSAC GPA (and in that case, no schools will care) but you'll want to look at the fine print. T14 schools definitely aren't out of the question...

Another Dillard with acceptance reported on reddit. Maybe it's late enough in the cycle that they're changing the no Dillards with acceptance policy? Yeah I'm thinking at this point they have a better idea of their candidate pool, and seem to be gearing up to release scholarship info to everyone. P...

Can you elaborate on what different reasons caused you to not perform well? . Gotcha. If just applying late in the season was your reason and you already “fixed” that, then I’d stand by the above advice that (1) you should really reflect on why law school and (2) if you do apply again, you should d...

Re: Diversity Statement Lenght

Generally shoot for a page, but if you need more to fully demonstrate why your diversity is compelling, make it as long as you need it to be (but keeping in mind that you were originally shooting for a page, so extending to 3-4 pages is likely excessive). +1 Although many specify one page maximum i...

Re: Spivey Consulting Q&A with Adcoms from Yale, Harvard, Penn, Chicago etc.

Your resume should include only the school(s) where you've earned a degree (or will be graduating from) and there's no need to list the school where you took classes over the summer. Law school reviewers will have all of your transcripts and will see the summer classes there. Hope this helps! Brill...

Hi Spivey and team! Thanks for all of your help on this thread. I'm working on my resume and had a question. I attended a few classes at a community college over the summer while at UG. I didn't earn any degree from the school. Do I need to list this institution on my resume for law school apps? If ...
