Re: GPA and UGPA

The failed class will count towards your LSAC GPA. You may want to include a GPA addendum for that. I'd guess that the grade excluded class won't affect your LSAC GPA (and in that case, no schools will care) but you'll want to look at the fine print. T14 schools definitely aren't out of the question...

Another Dillard with acceptance reported on reddit. Maybe it's late enough in the cycle that they're changing the no Dillards with acceptance policy? Yeah I'm thinking at this point they have a better idea of their candidate pool, and seem to be gearing up to release scholarship info to everyone. P...

Re: reapplication worthiness

Can you elaborate on what different reasons caused you to not perform well? . Gotcha. If just applying late in the season was your reason and you already “fixed” that, then I’d stand by the above advice that (1) you should really reflect on why law school and (2) if you do apply again, you should d...

Re: Diversity Statement Lenght

Generally shoot for a page, but if you need more to fully demonstrate why your diversity is compelling, make it as long as you need it to be (but keeping in mind that you were originally shooting for a page, so extending to 3-4 pages is likely excessive). +1 Although many specify one page maximum i...

Re: LSL c/o 2022 Applicants

Call-in. If you don't mind me asking - did you use an 11-pt font and/or go over 2 pages on your PS (which is phenomenal btw)? I'm having trouble keeping mine within 2 pages and noticed the word count on yours is a fair bit higher. Hi! I used an 11pt font - last year I don't think any school in the ...

Re: Spivey Consulting Q&A with Adcoms from Yale, Harvard, Penn, Chicago etc.

Your resume should include only the school(s) where you've earned a degree (or will be graduating from) and there's no need to list the school where you took classes over the summer. Law school reviewers will have all of your transcripts and will see the summer classes there. Hope this helps! Brill...

Re: Spivey Consulting Q&A with Adcoms from Yale, Harvard, Penn, Chicago etc.

Hi Spivey and team! Thanks for all of your help on this thread. I'm working on my resume and had a question. I attended a few classes at a community college over the summer while at UG. I didn't earn any degree from the school. Do I need to list this institution on my resume for law school apps? If ...

Re: LSL c/o 2022 Applicants

How are folks doing "Why Penn" essays? It seems like we need to use the "core strengths" essay option and turn it into a Why Penn of some sort? This is not helpful at all so I apologize for getting your hopes up with a notification but the unnecessary complexity of that essay prompt coupled with a ...

Hi all, Thank you for your prompt and thoughtful replies! I am certainly interested in Columbia and NYU, I just do not know as many lawyers from those schools in my practice areas. While it may be possible to continue to do such work, it makes me a little bit nervous. But those are great institutio...

Re: LSAC GPA?

Thanks everyone! That’s interesting. I would assume they would calculate both to around a 3.85 to 3.88. Not sure if I used their formula correctly. But, LSAT study certainly pushed my GPA down from where it once was. This should calculate it for you if you input all the grades from both institution...

Thanks for the feedback! So, say I get it down to where I am getting 9 out of 10 questions right per section, is that when you typically see speed improvements? Once your accuracy is on point, start gradually working on speed. Putting a timer on and tracking how long it's taking you to complete a s...

Re: LSL c/o 2022 Applicants

Is there a consensus on what t14 schools care/don't care about why X school essays? What schools will you all write one for? I think UVA, Berkeley, Penn are the ones that really care, but I think it helps everywhere not T6. Duke isn't really known for YPing, Cornell kinda integrates their "why" int...

Look to see what Dean Z and Asha have written on the subject. My understanding is that a strong PS doesn't need to make you seem exceptional/highly unique (since most of us aren't), but should be well-written and help form a coherent narrative about who you are as a person and (in most cases) why yo...

Then you don’t have to? If you take a couple of years off and find better things to do that’s great. If you still want to go to law school after a couple of years then you’re fine to go then.

Re: Harvard Scholarship with 80k income?

It might be possible to estimate using the info on HLS's financial aid page - https://hls.harvard.edu/dept/sfs/financial-aid-policy-overview/determination-of-financial-need/ They give a fair bit of info on how the calculation is done - it involves parents' assets, etc as well. That said, not sure ho...
