Re: Gunning for academia in 2019 and beyond

Thanks for the responses, everyone! Yeah, it does seem as though things are quite different for folks looking to be hired on the contributions they can make to the clinical vs doctrinal side of things, though I imagine once you've got your foot in the door there are opportunities to help other facul...

Gunning for academia in 2019 and beyond

Any advice for folks considering academia? 0L here, but a bit older than the typical prospective student and legitimately interested in becoming a professor. It's tough, and there are things that can be done to better the odds, but beyond that, I am wondering if anyone has any advice with respect to...

Re: GULC students & grads taking questions

How difficult is it to stay in DC if you're interested in biglaw? I've lived in DC for a while and plan on applying ED to GULC. It would really suck to have to spend a few years in NYC.

This might have been asked earlier, but I'm curious about what people think ITE.

PS Review!

Also posted in the URM forum, but after converting my DS into a PS I'm hoping to get some more eyes on it.

Would anyone like to review my personal statement?

Thanks, y'all! :D

Personal Statement Feedback?

Taking the LSAT in June (weeks away! :\) and am finishing up my essays. Anyone have some spare time to review my diversity statement? Still working on my PS. Thanks! EDIT: After some very helpful (and frankly game-changing) advice from fellow LSL'ers I've converted my DS into a PS. Happy to share wi...

URM ED GWU - Bad idea?

HIll staffer looking to practice (PI), but would love to stay in DC. Would ED'ing to GWU for the full scholarship be a bad idea for a URM? I'm guessing the ED scholarship is more of an T14/HYS deterrent for non-URM applicants. I'd prefer to go to Georgetown, but am not sure if it is worth the price ...

It's not US News - they don't make the 509s. The ABA just stopped separating the information on the 509 reports.
Ah, I see. I thought it might've been due to PT numbers being given more weight or something. Thanks!

PT medians?

I noticed that the 509 reports seem to lump all applicants together as of the most recent cycle. As a Hill staffer I am obviously considering one of the 20 part-time programs in the area. However, it seems like medians for part-time applicants are no longer available. Am I looking at the wrong repor...

Re: June 2018 Study Group

Slipped to a 157 :\. My study schedule doesn't call for PTs yet, maybe I'm burning out with the drills + PTs this early? Don't worry about the score. The point of taking practice tests is to make mistakes and spend time going over and understanding those mistakes. IMO you shouldn't be saying "I did...

Re: Spivey Consulting Q&A with Adcoms from Yale, Harvard, Penn, Chicago etc.

Hi Spivey Team! Given the uptick of applicants/applications this cycle, would you say that URMs are making up a smaller proportion of applicants? Not too good with reading data but it looks to me like the increase in URM applicants doesn't seem to be proportionate to the increase in overall applica...

Re: Penn Students & Graduates Taking Questions

Is it true that Penn places relatively well in South Florida? I found a thread on TLS that said there is a considerable alumni base in Miami due to some hiring partners being alums. Obviously the SF market is a crapshoot and even HYS doesn't guarantee placement there. Just wanted to explore this ide...

Re: June 2018 Study Group

Checking in. Currently PT average is in the low 160s. I started studying hoping for a 160, but now I'm bumping my goal up to ~165. Let's see what happens! Using the LSAT Trainer, the two suggested 10 More LSAT volumes, and tons of other tests I have as a backup. My job is pretty stressful and has lo...
