Re: Long Hours
is 1500 billable hours requirement a lot or not a lot? (NOT biglaw) I'm switching to private practice and that's my firm's requirement. It seems... manageable? Ymmv, but I switched to a place with no real requirement, with most in the group hitting around 1800. It is exceedingly manageable to be ev...

Re: Long Hours
Wow, all of this feedback is amazing everyone. Thank you. I did not expect this amount of responses with all of this great insight. Thank you all so much. Do I sense a shade of sarcasm? I think the internet has just warped our capacity to process earnestness in plain text. I honestly am only 50/50 ...

Re: How Screwed Am I?
It would help to know if you have a specific type of clerkship you are looking for, and how long out you're willing to look. Story gave some good advice, but certain of it is more applicable depending on where you want to land.

Re: GULC students & grads taking questions
Any sure thing easy A's I should be looking at to finish off 3LOLing without totally tanking the GPA? Slight reverse to this, but DON'T just take seminars heedlessly. Talk to people who have taken those specific ones before, cause some professors get way too intense about them. That said, find some...

Re: Pro Bono work in Biglaw
Definitely look for opportunities for smaller matters where you are the sole attorney. It is terrifying, but gives you a heck of a lot more immediate, on the ground experience as a first or second year attorney. As UVA said, talk to your pro bono coordinator. Also talk to those a year or two above y...

Re: Stub Year Questions
OP here. How many of you had work over Thanksgiving, and how much? I barely have any and I'm concerned if I'm just not working hard enough? Not a stub year, and billed exactly zero hours from Thursday-Sunday. Don't overthink things like that too much. Just because some people get absolutely crushed...

Re: 50 Market Survey (Secondary Market Advice Compilation)
Delaware/Wilmington The Market : While there are certainly legal jobs to be had everywhere in the State of Delaware, by far the biggest and most prominent market is Wilmington. While sometimes lumped in with the Philadelphia legal market, it really is its own entity, and takes a ton of pride in tha...

Re: paul weiss ninth years to 350!
Poster is giving you a hard time saying you work at Venable, and not to hold your breath, because your non-elite firm isn't gonna match. I'm just clarifying what's happening here, so don't get mad at me. Thank you, that helps. It also is super silly. So not only are they trying to give me a hard ti...

S&C FTW https://abovethelaw.com/2018/06/sullivan-cromwell-matches-salaries-we-think/ I like how this happens every time there is a raise, both in this thread, and in the TLS thread. Someone reports it anonymously, people talk about it for a post or two, then an hour later when ATL finally reports o...
