Re: 3rd yr to in-house possible?

I’m a corporate associate, so take this with a grain of salt, but I’m getting much more interest now as a 3rd year for in-house positions.

Re: 2018 Bonus Discussion

had a nice lol at the idea of clients being able to discern the difference between associate a and associate b billing 8 and 16 hours of “review and markup merger agreement” on their respective deals Some clients require a lot more detail than that. It may also just be more obvious in litigation. I...

Re: Milbank Scale

Doing the non profit sounds great but I’m not in love with being an attorney.

Otherwise, I’d try and ask around and make more $$$ for a similar amount of work. Over a year or two, depending on your class year, the different will be significant.

You have to just become Yolo Swaggins. Mistakes happen, there’s always more to learn, and your value as a person isn’t determined by your ability to draft or spot typos. You can feel that quick moment of “oh shit” then you have to move on and not dwell.

Relieved and pleased to read that no one, so far, regrets going in-house.
Same, the only way I could see myself regretting it is if it’s a similar amount of work/demand 24/7 availability. Now to just find one of those in house jobs...

Re: TLS Debate - Shoes for Interview

Makes me sad that people think there is basically a law firm uniform and they’re so goddamn risk adverse they think wearing brown shoes will fuck you. Not saying you should be rocking the dope light blue suit, but you don’t have to wear a plain navy suit with black oxfords, a white shirt and a red t...

Re: Los Angeles Market Associate Taking Questions -- OCI and BID LIST HELP

I've heard that many LA firms have really distinct personality types. Some are supposedly really fratty and go out all the time together and some firms are reportedly really anti social. Is this an accurate statement? If so, where do the big firms fall on the spectrum? Hmm. I don’t think you can pa...

As a law student I wouldn’t think anything of it, but as an associate I can’t help but think that’s a bush league move. Don’t have a reception if you can’t afford parking lmao

Re: Billable question - late at night

I'm very surprised to read that people will bill for time sitting around waiting for comments to get back, even if that's the only reason why they're still in the office. STandard That would never be ok at my low amlaw 100 firm. So that's a really foreign concept to me. The whole bill .1 to read em...

What are we going to blow our bonuses on?

I’m thinking watch.
What kind of watch are you looking at?
Don’t know if I have the balls to do it, but I’m eyeing the A. Lange & Sohne 35mm Saxonia in white gold with a black crocodile strap.

Not having cash on hand to pay a small summer bonus until on or before July 31 isn’t very presTTTigious
