Re: I'm a Public Defender AMA

Most states allow criminal depositions under limited circumstances (witness can't be present for the trial, is refusing to testify, etc.) with approval of the court. Florida has pretty expansive rules on criminal depositions, including being able to depose cops. I'd agree with Nony, though, that the...

If prospective employers only offer "table talks," is it worth attending?
Yes, I know folks that parlayed a table talk into an interview.

That seems pretty disingenuous too - it’s not the juror’s right to be on the jury that’s at issue, but the defendant’s right to a fair/representative jury.
Yeah that is my beef with that paragraph.

Re: SCOTUS and Other Big Cases

Good https://twitter.com/SCOTUSblog/status/1142071270286286848?s=19 From Thomas' dissenting opinion: Much of the Court’s opinion is a paean to Batson v. Kentucky, which requires that a duly convicted criminal go free because a juror was arguably deprived of his right to serve on the jury. That rule...

Re: Class of 2021: we're basically 1.5Ls now

How important is the "prestige" of your 1L summer job? I have an offer for a paid position at a small firm back home, which I'd love to take for several reasons, but I didn't know if I should try for something that might look "better" for OCI. I'm trying to keep my loans as low as possible so getti...

Thank you to Borhas and Cal Trask for the Colorado info. Just accepted an offer with them recently and excited to get started. I'm also free to answer any CO questions. I got hired with the most recent crop who started back in August. Definitely not the authority that Borhas or Cal are, but more th...

Re: Class of 2021: It's so c0Ld in the D.

I feel like I bombed my memo lmfao. Oh well, guess I'll find out eventually I'm literally in memo hell. Spent probably 30 hours working on it across the last 3.5 weeks because I've basically done two full rewrites since my first draft. Final draft due Wednesday and my professor has not been giving ...

From 5:30-6:30? The schedule on their site says Employers/Law School Professionals, so I don't think it is open to students.

This is a stupid question, but I'm from Seattle so true stereotypes dictate that I must know: What Coffee chain supplies Vanderbilt's campus? It depends on the building, I think. The cafe that served the law school closed, so there will (should) be a different place next year. The old cafe used int...

Can I ask which offices? I’m nervously waiting
So far interviews with Palm Beach, Salt Lake, Louisville, Allegheny, and Kentucky DOPA. Got a ding from Maryland last night.

Still waiting on a lot of offices.
