Re: SLS or Chicago?

BTW I don't mean to insinuate that Chicago's a better school than Stanford simply because of the BL +FC score. I just used that to illustrate that you are DEFINITELY going to get a firm job out of either school so why not choose the one that is at least 70 k less expensive (though ittl be more becau...

Re: SLS or Chicago?

*obligatory 0L disclosure*

Chicago has higher percentage of its grads going into big law or federal clerkships than Stanford. If your goals definitely involve big law, then going to Stanford over Chi wont give you a very meaningful (if any) bump.

Hello fellow long-time lurker. I'm going to suggest you include the following information in the OP before LSL puts you on blast: 1. It's important for us, when giving you advice, to know what your cost of attendance is (some schools COL/Tuition can vary and so scholarship information is not that in...

Re: NYU Students/Grads Taking Questions

Hi all! Was wondering about the comments re: anti prosecutor attitude. Is it a big deal? If you were someone interested in pursuing that type of thing would you see that as a serious deterrent? Hey! I had the same concern and reached out to Director Gail Zweig about it. I suggest you do the same--s...

Re: UChicago Applicants c/o 2021

I dont know if Chi does waves but I received an interview yesterday. Submitted early jan and went complete on 1.16.18 They do everything in waves, at least in terms of interview requests and decisions. There was a large interview request wave yesterday. There will likely be a decision wave a couple...

I'm a 0L so take this FWIW, but before you commit, I'd play around with LIPP and see how much you'd be paying/month based on several projected salaries.

Re: NYU (Vanderbilt) v. UVA (Dillard)

That's fine if it's not Biglaw, but what is your backup plan then exactly? What would you do if the DOJ or USAO didn't work out? Without answering that question, it's pretty much impossible to give good advice here. Both NYU and UVA can place in DC/Cali/South. Arguably UVA does better in DC and the...

Re: NYU (Vanderbilt) v. UVA (Dillard)

While your primary goal is really important in deciding here, I think your goal is also sufficiently hard to get that you should have a defined back-up plan. What would that be, in your mind? This isn't meant to suggest that you can't get USAO/DOJ, or that it's necessarily more or less likely at ei...

NYU (Vanderbilt) v. UVA (Dillard)

I am really fortunate to have these two offers on the table and am genuinely torn between them. Total COA: NYU: 93,786 UVA: 57,294 How am I Paying: Loans/Financing Goals: Dead-Set on Federal Public Service (think DOJ or USAO)/Would like to Practice in California or the South LRAP: NYU's is more gene...

Which of the following living arrangements would you recommend to incoming 1Ls and why: 1. D’Agostino Hall 2. Hayden Hall 3. 130 MacDougal Street 4. Off-Campus housing E. FWIW NYU's PILC, their PI-support office, maintains a dedicated number of advisors whose duty/expertise is in securing government jobs for the students (including ADA and PD work).

Re: Public Interest Megathread for T14s (employment data, resources, testimonials)

I spoke to the Dean of NYU earlier today. He told me that if students enrolled in law school were to live through a repeal of IBR/PSLF, the university would continue to operate the LRAP for those students in the same way, essentially picking up the tab associated with the transition from the IBR bas...

I've looked through NYU's viewbook and there is some talk of the various academic centers/institutes--i.e., Brennan Center for Justice, Center on Law and Security, Center for Research in Crime and Justice etc. What do these centers do? How do they contribute to the intellectual experience of an aver...

Re: Public Interest Megathread for T14s (employment data, resources, testimonials)

After doing some research, I have compiled this table. It is supposed to show what type of PI (Non-Gov v. Gov PS) graduates from the below schools are working in. Feel free to correct me, if I've gotten some numbers wrong. I did this with my boss periodically walking by at work. * This table might b...
