Re: LRAP/IBR/PSLF. How does it work? Let's find out!
One of the biggest reasons is because FFEL loans do not qualify - but no one told the borrowers until they started getting denied. A recent report found 1 in 7 rejections are for this reason. Congress should change it. People paid into loans for 10 years that no one told them didn't qualify - and so...

If it applies, yes. I would call your servicer to see if it applies.

Re: LRAP/IBR/PSLF. How does it work? Let's find out!
FYI - y'all should call you servicers to see if the extension applies to you. My income based repayment anniversary is on January 1, so I don't qualify. The date is not when your recertification is due, but the anniversary of when you officially entered income based repayment is the reference date f...

Does everyone else interpret this to mean we just don't need to recertify this year and our payments next year will be the same as this year?

Re: LRAP/IBR/PSLF. How does it work? Let's find out!
FYI - just did my annual employee recertification for PSLF and it properly counted the months covered by the CARES Act. Sitting at 44 qualifying payments! (lol not even halfway there but at least all months have been properly counted since I started repayment).

Re: LRAP/IBR/PSLF. How does it work? Let's find out!
I work in government, and I’m really hoping to qualify for PSLF after just a few more years. Is it safe to pay nothing on my loans until January 2021? Can I safely assume that DOE will properly implement Trump’s executive order on student loans? Yes. Dept of Ed is also an agency. Arbitrary and capr...

Re: LRAP/IBR/PSLF. How does it work? Let's find out!
While not completely clear, it's likely that Trump's EO won't provide qualifying payment status for those months being deferred after Sept. 30. PSLF is governed by statute and implemented through Dept. of Ed. regulations that were adopted via notice and comment, including what types of payments are ...

Re: how law school affects geographic location for afterwards
OK, that's more or less what I thought--it's the T14, basically, where the school itself offers national portability? This sort of gets into another area. I ended up applying at basically the end of the cycle--mid February and in a few cases later--which is why (I tell myself) I under-performed my ...

Some of you all do not post in the lounge so you wouldn't know this, but you shouldn't take 69% of what Johann says seriously.
