Re: High Scorers - How Did you Prep?

Score: 174 (first take: 167) Diagnostic: 160 What materials did you use? Testmasters course book + several books of released LSATs. Did you take a course? Yes, Testmasters. Thought it was generally helpful as an introduction to the LSAT, kept me honest about studying, but it felt increasingly usele...

There are no retakes for your undergrad GPA. In the words of Ru Paul, don't fuck it up.

Re: Retake (?) and Reapply

3 months is plenty of time to move from high 160s/low 170s solidly into the 170s for someone who took in December. It really is. There are tons of LSAT study gurus on here, but the key to getting started is getting started. Be ready to carve out around 3 hours a day of dedicated, focused time. More...

Re: A 0L/1Ls Guide to Patent Law Job Hunting

I wouldn't do it during 1L year either, but I would be prepared for it at some point if you really want to get into patent lit. Like I said, some firms will absolutely require it, but that doesn't mean you need to be eligible when you interview. Imagine the conversation in an interview going someth...

Re: A 0L/1Ls Guide to Patent Law Job Hunting

When I say a tech background, it's meant to be non-field specific, considering there are so many technical fields that deal in patent work. So, for instance, someone with coding and SWE experience on their resume at least demonstrates that they have the propensity to understand the underlying tech ...

Your end question was if LIPP payments were worth the shot of a clerkship vs. Michigan. If the clerkship is the deciding factor, then my vote is for you to go to Chicago.

Re: NYU Students/Grads Taking Questions

Is it totally random whether you end up with crim or torts in fall? Can i pick my favorite? (The one that scares me less) You'll get randomly placed into a section, you don't have any control over which class you take first. But obviously you do get to pick your spring elective! On 1L spring ...

Re: A 0L/1Ls Guide to Patent Law Job Hunting

Economics major here, currently working in tech (but not as a SWE or any other CS-related role) - I had always considered IP law as it seemed to fit with my tech work experience, but it sounds like I might be fighting a somewhat-uphill battle as I do not have a STEM undergraduate degree? I can code...

This feels premature nonetheless.

That said, UCLA is probably the best choice for staying in CA. DOJ Honors is tough to crack regardless of where you go.

I sympathize greatly with OP’s fear of regret over this tough decision, but I’d like to thank everyone for weighing in. I just made a very similar choice, and the discussion borne out here helped assuage my own fear of regret as I turn down HLS for the AnBryce at NYU.

Re: Stanford C/O 2021 Applicants

Part of me wonders if the length of time you wait (assuming were all getting wld or rejected) is de facto your ranking on the wl. But that is so speculative its almost unethical to post it here I'm not sure if they rank. More like a vacancy appears and they run queries to plug the hole in the class...
