Re: As you start Bar Prep -- Be sure to have other (non-study) things to do

Anywhere that's UBE, or weighs MBE 50% makes autopass mathematically possible. States that weigh MBE 40% technically don't make autopass possible.

Autopass target is to hit 80% but 70+% is actual autopass score bc of scaling, and really, 65% is autopass bc nobody gets 0's on their essays.

i think OP was legit, and probably won't come back but: - this issue is pretty specific and requires actual research - there probably isn't even an answer that can be articulated concisely, even wrt vaccines. - the question was poorly framed (partly bc of language barrier, partly bc it's a complex q...

nope. anecdotally, no noticed correlation for GPA/LSAT. some correlation for majors/occupation (philosophy, journalism, and STEM do better).

Re: Baguette Applies to Law School

is Duke's COA really 270k after 45k of scholarship? that doesn't seem right. 170k maybe? 170k is still a lot though. i think sitting out and reapplying with a 180 in a non-covid year is tcr. WUSTL turning down a perfect score is really head scratchy and shows how underweighted the LSAT was for these...

i think it's worth a LOCI being assertive (not pushy) that you'd appreciate a decision sooner rather than later. a Yale/Stanford admission is worth considering imo.

Re: Should I buy a LSAT Strategy Guide?

It wouldn't hurt to get a prep book for the logic games so you can still those but otherwise, continuing to PT works too. It just would be a more effective use of your time to shore up your problem areas (to the extent one has problem areas with a 172) instead of devoting time to entire PTs

idk how to beat the drum, SEO wise, but i hope adding to the post-count of this thread about NOTRE DAME and ADMISSION PRACTICES to NOTRE DAME will help. anything to help APPLICANTS make an INFORMED DICISION ABOUT THE INSTUTIONAL ETHICS of the school they APPLY to.

a nonsignificant number of companies hire fresh grads. i know telecom regularly hires new grads as do a lot of other heavily regulated industries, especially if the applicant has previous WE working on regulatory matters (hill experience)

Re: duke, uva, cornell, or retake

UVa has a statistically significant, if marginal, benefit for placing into DC, but with a 190k salary and an aggressive debt-payment plan, the difference between paying down your debt in 2 years v. 1 year 6 months is also marginal. I also think the margin isn't as narrow as 21/14%. Maybe that's what...

it's also too granular an investigation. even within an institution, there's variance of grade inflation between schools/majors.

Charlotte is tough to crack without ties, period, but you're in a better spot coming out of duke than uva.

Re: duke, uva, cornell, or retake

UVa places significantly more grads at DC firms than Duke. But also, yeah, +20k is adding 20-25% to your debtload but if you're able get 190k+bonus at DC hours v NYC hours or 160k in Charlotte, imo it's worth it.

Plus I'll take Charlottesville over Durham all day. But I'm not really a city person.

Re: duke, uva, cornell, or retake

I think UVa at 110k is serviceable debt and also bc UVa punches above its weight for your goals (bigfed/DC biglaw) you can get away with not retaking but these are just our best guesses.

if your PTs indicate that you're a 173+ scorer, go for it. you're ruby/hamilton/HYS bound.
