Re: 161/3.2 AA Chance me please

Any real shot at the T-14? Retake is not an option for me. You have a shot. It's not a sure thing though. If you're applying this cycle then it's probably less likely. If you're aiming for next cycle you should have a better shot if you submit a strong application relatively early (before thanksgiv...

Re: 1L/Diversity SA Thread 2019

Those of you that don't have grades yet, what are you doing for applications that require grades to submit? Just not applying for those or uploading your course list instead or something? I was told by my career service counselor to write a brief statement to the recruiting contact saying that you ...

Re: 1L/Diversity SA Thread 2019

This is making me wonder how callbacks work when some students won't receive their grades until their second semester begins. If you're out of state, get your grades, and receive a callback interview request, do you just skip a day (or potentially 2) of law school to go to the interview? I was worr...

Re: Beard during CB?

Just FYI, if you’re a black male (or any other person with very fine, curly hair), you should shave with an electric razor (like the Andis T-outliner) instead of a traditional razor that cuts hair beneath the skin. You will get almost zero razor bumps. The razor bumps come from the hair curling bac...

Re: 1L/Diversity SA Thread 2019

When y'all say interviews, do you mean screeners or call backs? Mofo, Morgan Lewis, and Shearman are doing screeners. White & Case and Simpson are doing callbacks. Are W&C and Simpson no longer doing screeners then? Not sure how this works if people are already doing callbacks :/ It may have just b...

Re: Beard during CB?

What kind of beard are we talking about? Find a celebrity picture example and show us, if you'd like. I think anything with real length probably is a no-go. Trim it as short as you can get it without causing skin problems. I can only think of one guy I know in biglaw with a beard and I'm not sure i...

Beard during CB?

I have 1L interviews coming up (this is probably applicable to 2L interviews too though) and I was wondering what is the consensus on having a beard during an interview? I just got a haircut and cut my beard low and neat. Whenever I do shave my beard off completely I get a really bad case of razor b...

  if your school has model answers to pair with the PTs, reading the model answers is well worth your time. it might seem intuitive but it also helps to see what a "good" answer looks like and how deep (or not deep) you need to delve to score points on an exam.  Going to use...

I agree with Dog, in that you have a decent chance at the schools you asked about specifically. I think you could possibly snag a t-14 as well if you have a well-crafted application (not a sure thing though). Will your G.I. Bill cover the cost of law school?

Re: UVA Law Students & Graduates Taking Questions

Do you guys feel as though the student organizations/clubs helped guide your professional interests at all? I signed up to be on the mailing lists for a few clubs, and am hoping that I might get more exposure to fields of law which I have vague interests in, but no serious substantive knowledge about.

Might be wrong, but aren't you asking for legal advice? If so, you're prob not going to get answers on here. On a side note-GET OUT! I was in a similar situation during the final months of my job as a paralegal and yeah, somehow everything the incompetent attorney I was working with got wrong was pi...

Re: Howard and the Biglaw

I would not recommend attending Seattle University at $135k, or even $100k for that matter. Given your options, I recommend taking up a job (or remaining at your current one) and spending more time studying for the LSAT. Given that you'd be able to live at home if you went to Seattle U, it may make...

Re: Debevoise thread on tls

Well ok, either what was said in that ATL article was true, or the firm put out a counterstory which served its purpose: instilling some element of doubt w/r/t the conclusion of the smoking gun that is the "blacklist". But it really doesn't speak to the corroborating voices on that TLS thread who sp...

Re: What is Biglaw and how do I get it?

So I saw a post on the other site that had me thinking (and also scared quite frankly) about the relationship of Biglaw firm financial health and job security. A poster on the other site stated he/she was stealthed promptly after his/her firm matched the MSC scale. Now it’s not clear whether his/her...

In 3 years there will probably be enough work to go around. Just don't spend too much time on it and don't mention it unless it comes up or if you're interviewing at a firm that's investing heavily into it.
Much appreciated!

Re: UVA Law Students & Graduates Taking Questions

Just got this email inviting me to apply for the "Community Fellows Program." The description is pretty vague - sounds like a diversity initiative? Is it a worthwhile thing to do? +1 Also curious about this. Worried it might be a good program but potentially a time-sink. It was started last year so...
