For a friend: 2.90/TBD LSAT - AA Female

LSN is pretty sparse in this range. She took a cold PT and scored in the mid-160s. Very confident that she can score in the 170s with some work. She is ~7 years out of UG. Trying to give her an idea of what she might be working towards. Seems like: (i) with a 170+, the low end of the T14 comes into ...

Not sure what you're asking. Isn't that the play always regardless of what you think you want to do?
I mean yeah I guess. I guess I'm asking whether there are any special considerations to take into account when you're looking to go into this area?

I didn't land a single FL biglaw offer out if UVA despite growing up there and spending 1L summer there. FL is tough.

Re: UVA Law Students & Graduates Taking Questions

What's the best location for a locker? As close as possible to the library? I don't really have a sense of where I'll be spending my time. Do you have an idea which side of the building you'd be walking in from? Like if you're walking from Ivy, a Slaughter-side locker would be good. Arlington, WB w...

Re: Regulatory Work for Financial Institutions

I don't have any good questions, but being on the legal side of this the changes in global trade has some appeal to me, so I want to know more about the options in that area. Does it feel like you are a transactional corporate lawyer? Are you in NYC or DC or London? Yeah like I said to the anon dud...

Re: Regulatory Work for Financial Institutions

Are you at a law firm doing this type of thing? Or in house at a bank? How does one lateral to a bank to do this stuff -- assume you need X amount of experience if you dont want to end up in compliance. Yeah I’m at a biglaw firm. Haven’t looked to bail yet so not sure how my experience would be rec...

Re: Regulatory Work for Financial Institutions

Yeah I’m mostly a finance deal lawyer, but I dabble in some M&A regulatory work (e.g., state licensing hoops you have to jump through when certain kinds of companies get taken over) and what is essentially specialist consulting on deal docs (e.g., just like you send your MRA/credit agreement/whateve...

Re: So you think you want BigLaw?

I once had to jump in and close a deal for someone who got the flu. It was horrible and I'm still mad about it. Who are you mad at? Hopefully not the person with the flu, who obviously had no choice in contracting a serious illness. Admittedly I'm letting the ruthless biglaw chicken flow through me...

What happens when you get sick while working on a big deal as a corporate associate? Do you get to take sick leave and come back and work to death, or are you expected to keep working?

You don’t want to enter as a third-year. You’ll have no transferable skills and would effectively be a first year billing out as a third year. Idk why anyone would want you in their deal team. This is just a recipe to get fired very quickly.
This is correct.

Looks like someone scooped me in the mod thread. I don't know why this isn't in the legal employment forum anyway tbh.
