Re: Final inhouse interview with a top executive. What to expect?

Primarily a personality/getting to know you interview. Be prepared to ask a lot of questions about the direction of the business, anticipated areas of growth, and this would also be a good time to ask questions about the company culture. Depending on which C-suite exec they are you may also inquire ...

Also tons of midlevel/senior associates deciding the money isn't worth it and just quitting, maybe not even to go in-house.
I know two people that have done this now, neither seem to have any regrets

Also I should add, you can still show them that you’re a hard worker and you’re not afraid of a late night or two, while at the same time wanting a change from the pace of big law. It is a bit of a tight rope but you can get the hang of it.

Re: Biglaw to Inouse/Government Exit Interview Question - Why are you leaving your job?

Feel free to directly blame the work life balance, especially if your interviewer worked at a big law firm, it won’t be a surprise. Everyone in house knows that working at a big law firm is brutal. I’ve done literally dozens of interviews where I’ve used that exact answer and can usually get a laugh...

That also struck me as on the low end, but my experience with exec comp is more commonly in private m&a transactions than an IPO (although you’d think the bonuses would be similar)

Re: Deal bonus for IPO counsel

There’s definitely no one size fits all answer here, outcomes vary GREATLY. Depends on your experience (both with the company and prior), their commitment to making sure you stay, the results of the IPO. This uncertainty also works in your favor since you should be able to sweeten the deal for yours...

Sample size of one, but based on that I think it would be worthwhile for you to start considering other options This also ha...

So in effect you’re perfectly fine with being unethical so long as you’re making as much money as possible? You could have saved everyone a lot of time up front if you just admitted you didn’t care about professional responsibility.
