Re: 1L USAO Intern Background Check?

FWIW -- I knew a kid that received 1L summer USAO offer and then disclosed he used marijuana in college. He lost the offer and had to scramble to get a different 1L position. Sample size of one, but based on that I think it would be worthwhile for you to start considering other options This also ha...

Pancakes and Slyther make good points about the financial dangers of law school. I hope you consider them.

I agree its a good offer to have but with that GPA and URM status, those thirteen points would effectively get you any school in the country.
Don’t bump old threads please.

Re: Law Clerk at Two Jobs at Once?

So in effect you’re perfectly fine with being unethical so long as you’re making as much money as possible? You could have saved everyone a lot of time up front if you just admitted you didn’t care about professional responsibility.

Re: Would you spell out LIBOR on a resume?

People have google if they don’t know. I wouldn’t stress too much about it. I wouldn’t type out ERISA or FCPA or FLSA or EEOC on a legal resume. LIBOR seems similarly well-known, in my anecdotal impression? I dont think recruiters will Google, if they dont it they might overlook it and mvoe on to t...

I wouldn't because interest in aviation and interest in aviation finance have almost no overlap in terms of what you'd be doing on a daily basis.

Re: Thoughts on expressing a specific niche interest?

It's one thing to say the firm has a "strong reputation" in a certain area or works with XYZ impressive clients in the space but citing any specific rankings will come off as being interested in the firm for the wrong reasons (namely prestige) to put it nicely. Like slyther said you have to tailor y...

No that's perfect, it shows both your specific interest and flexibility which is exactly what firms want.

Re: Thoughts on expressing a specific niche interest?

Only if the firm has that area and even then it's maybe not the best choice because they may not have any needs in that group. If your goal is to just get any OCI job then I'd say just pick a broader area like financing generally, doesn't have to be as broad as "transactional". Also need a very good...

FYI I've been a practicing attorney for four years now and served on the recruiting committee at a midsize law firm so I know a little about this stuff. Everyone that said "reapply without hesitation" is giving you the right answer.
