Re: CS career megathread / AMA

App, you’re kind of asking for legal advice. You’re asking people to interpret and apply laws to very specific circumstances.

If you have real concerns, talk to a lawyer.

Re: Fourth Interview over three and half months

Yeah interviewing is exhausting.

At least you have a job while interviewing for other jobs.

Interviewing for jobs without having a current job sucks.

Re: Fourth Interview over three and half months

Could be a budget thing. They don’t have the money to feel comfortable hiring you. But they don’t want to lose you. So they string you along with all these interviews. That’s just speculation. But it happened to me when I was in LS. I applied for a position. The first interview happened. Then I didn...

Redo 1L.

As long as the F will not show up. I would get some type of confirmation of that in writing.

Good luck, OP. What a terrible situation. Hard to believe it couldn’t be avoided.

Re: LRAP/IBR/PSLF. How does it work? Let's find out!

Fuck yes. A few years ago, I once spoke with a person who used to work at DOE. We were pretty good friends, and I asked her why so many PSLF applications were denied. (This was when mainstream media finally started recognizing the problems with PSLF.) She told me that the DOE people who review PSLF ...

Re: Human rights / international public law firms ? Salaries?

If you want to do work to protect human rights, you’d probably have to work at a unicorn nonprofit job or certain federal government jobs in the state department (also rare). None of these jobs pay big-law rates. You probably will never have a salary that can compete with a big-law salary. But you ...

Re: Careers in legal aid

You know yourself better than I do. I thought I really wanted to live in NYC for my whole life. But then life, family, job satisfaction changes, and maybe you wanna move.

If you work first in Philly, it might be hard to go anywhere else later.

Re: Careers in legal aid

I’m not as familiar with the legal aid market in Philly. Are you sure you would want to spend your initial (at least) legal career in Philly? I forgot, do you have any SO that might object? Have you asked Dickinson if they have stats about students who work in legal aid soon after law school? Maybe ...

Let the CA schools know about your scholarship. See if they can match or get close.

Have you applied to or heard back from local LA schools like Loyola, Pepperdine, Southwestern, etc.? I imagine you might get good scholarships from these schools too.

It's not gonna get you legal aid in California, but it will get you legal aid in Pburg or Philly.
For Potat, because his hometown is LA, and he has worked for a large nonprofit in LA before, I think his chances are OK. Not good, but he can at least probably get some interviews.

Re: LRAP/IBR/PSLF. How does it work? Let's find out!

Does anyone know who is gonna replace Fedloan yet? IIRC, Fedloan is gonna stop servicing student loans. Edit because I found this quote: “FSA is in the process of transferring those loans to remaining servicers,” wrote the Department. Some FedLoan accounts are already being transferred to MOHELA, an...

Re: LRAP/IBR/PSLF. How does it work? Let's find out!

The details of this aren't official yet, but if these things go through, it'll be huge at remedying some of the biggest structural problems with the program due to the really bad communication of the policies in the early years of it. These changes mean potentially hundreds of thousands of people w...

Be sure to confirm that the Ws are “nonpunitive.” You may have already seen this, but here it is just in case:

You don’t want the Ws to affect your LSAC GPA.
