Re: Univ of Texas School of Law students / grads taking questions

Hi all - anyone know anything about Charles Silver for civ pro? He appears to be visiting from Texas (or maybe was hired away?) at my school and I have him in the fall. Feel free to PM!

Re: Michigan Students and Grads Taking Questions

I am curious about Frier. Am I seeing correctly that he is not a lawyer / did not go to law school, but somehow ended up as a casebook author for a book on modern contract law? How does that work? I had Frier for contracts, pretty chill (maybe a little weird/quirky to some) and definitely knows his...

Re: University of Chicago Waitlist

Everyone else get the email asking if you wanted to stay on? Do we think it means anything or is it just a way to clear away people in case they need to make a quick admit in August?

Re: UVA v. NYU law

Agreed with the others - with those goals why just those two? Why not at least consider, eg, USC or UCLA probably with substantial discount?

Re: Michigan Students and Grads Taking Questions

Apologies if this is answered somewhere - I can't seem to find anything. Does Mich have a rule against people working during 1L? (Bracket, for now the question of whether there is any circumstance in which this is not a bad idea.) I don't think so. I think it was/is an ABA rule (not sure if this ru...

Can someone say what was in the confirmation email? I submitted the WL form and did not get one.

Checking in. Probably riding this out till the bitter end, though with no expectations. Pretty surprised, given the rest of my cycle, to have gotten the WL.

Re: Yale C/O 2021 Applicants (2017-2018)

is this worth updating yale about? At this stage, my personal thought process would be: 1) New information isn't going to change things in the next 24 hours-- and someone on reddit claims that 24 hours is what we're looking at . 2) If you're looking to ride out the waitlist, you may want to be able...

Re: Yale C/O 2021 Applicants (2017-2018)

I was playing around on LSN and I noticed that the stats of people waitlisted are generally on the very high side, even compared to yale's acceptances, with only a couple outliers; like it looks like the average stats for waitlisted are higher than those accepted; wonder why that is. IMO it is an i...

I would just like to jump in and say that I am unconvinced by the comments upthread, and continue to be perfectly happy to accept any and all abuse Yale would like to throw at me if it means I still have a chance.

Re: Yale C/O 2021 Applicants (2017-2018)

Totally conjecture with no evidence, but based on the rather sizable "wave" reported on Reddit last night, I think that it was probably the final admit bunch we are going to see. The rest of us are almost certainly headed for ding/WL (though, that was always the case because it's Yale). I could see...

Re: NYU c/o 2021 Applicants (2017-2018 cycle)

Long time lurker Are we sure NYU Law does not average LSAT scores? It says really clearly on their website that they average LSAT scores so I am not sure how that matches what people say that they do not average LSAT scores. My lowest LSAT was a 162 and highest is barely above their 25th so if they...

Re: UChicago Applicants c/o 2021

So who wants to read tea leaves with me? Got an interview request last Thurs, and appears there were a few others that day and a few earlier last week. Earliest slot available for me to interview was early next week. That seems...really late? Like, for one thing, are they going to do a lightning-fas...

Am I missing something - why does UVA want the CSS? They don't do need-based aid, right?
Where does UVA say that they want CSS?
It's FAFSA for them not CSS (http://content.law.virginia.edu/financi ... ancial-aid)
Thnx! Should have used google - got bad info from someone.

Aaaaaand got my hold tight. Such an illustrious club it almost feels good.

Submitted mid Jan, was UR2 by end of Jan, and crickets until today. People with my numbers were >90% at NYU on mylsn. Weird cycle.

Anyone up for reading some tea leaves/answering unanswerable questions? UR1 mid Jan, UR2 1/29, no waitlist, no ding, no sit tight email, no acceptance. That's at least a little weird, right? When is mid-January? I think everyone getting the 'hold tight email went UR in early Jan. Based on what else...

Re: Law School Admissions AMA with Spivey Consulting Group - LIVE TODAY

I recognize that there is still a long way to go this cycle, but I have some reason to think I may not get the results I would like. What are best practices for reapplying? Should I specifically not withdraw from any schools that I plan on reapplying to? If a school admitted me this year with money,...

Re: UVA Law Students & Graduates Taking Questions

Going straight into a tenure track position out of UVA isn't per se impossible, but it's highly unlikely. That doesn't mean you can't go into academia out of UVA, but it'll typically be through one or several federal clerkships and possibly a stint in another field before transitioning to academia....
