Re: Berkeley c/o 2022 Applicants

... i'm hoping that being a CA resident and having graduated from a UC may give me a slight boost Idk what kind of a 'boost' being CA resident, and UC graduate actually gives someone, but I can say for certain there's a substantial portion of my 1L cohort that checks both of those boxes. I think it...

Re: Irvine c/o 2022 Applicants

Likely applying this year, but I applied last year. I sent it in super late (end of Feb), but 3 days after sending I got a confirmation. FYI, there was no tracker though. WLs and dings went out snail mail, and I believe acceptances came via e-mail. Weird that they don't confirm right away for early...

Re: LSAC GPA - UGPA Difference

Just put your GPA for a given school, as that school has determined to be. A .01 differnece is insignificant, and law schools are plenty aware that your university and LSAC GPA may, or are, going to differ. Don't sweat the difference between the two. The only thing you want to avoid doing is misrepr...

Right now: grades, grades, grades. Even working full-time, if you keep plugging away at the LSAT over time, you can get to where you want AFTER you graduate.

Re: URM with avergae to poor stats

OP, I was accepted into a few schools with a 151 score. Retaking and making 160+ got me scholarships. I got a 150 and am re-applying this fall. Do you have any useful tips on how you got to a 160? I'm currently studying for the Sept LSAT, Logic games being my worst section Since logic games are giv...

Bum. I've wondered something similar. If one applies to transfer, and gets accepted, has it been the case for anyone out there that their 1L school offers some additional aid to stay?

Does anyone know when Stanford starts letting people in off the waitlist?
Idk about when the earliest that people get pulled off, but FWIW a friend of mine last year was pulled off in about the second week of June.

Re: SLS or Chicago?

Slightly off topic, but it seems to me there is a lack of appreciation for two things: (1) opportunity costs and (2) a sense of what a good outcome is. For folks wanting to work biglaw or in a private firm, when their options will be those available to Chicago and SLS grads, waiting a year can come...

Re: SLS or Chicago?

waiting a year can come at the cost of 160k to 180k for a year in forgone biglaw income. I think salary after tax is a bit over 100K, which would be more than cancelled out by the debt at these schools, so no. I don't count 130k to be just a bit over 100k. This doesn't account for bonuses either. A...

Re: Spivey Consulting Q&A with Adcoms from Yale, Harvard, Penn, Chicago etc.

Good morning! I’m pretty much done with my cycle and know where I’ll be attending in the fall. Just wanted to stop by here and thank the Spivey team for supporting LSL and answering our questions (for free! ;)). Thanks so much! Thanks for noticing! Someone mentioned today we should just take all of...

Re: Northwestern vs. Vanderbilt

I wouldn't say that NW gives you a "MUCH better shot" at Chicago b/c Vandy kids are selecting out of that market, but yeah go to NW I know Vandy is a good school, but this statement is a bit ridiculous imo. Northwestern should give a “MUCH better shot" at breaking into Chicago’s Big Law market vs. ...

Re: Berkeley C/O 2021

How easy is it for Berkeley grads to leave CA and find jobs elsewhere? It looks like most people choose to stay in CA after they graduate but that, of course, could just be self-selection. I'm wondering about the strength of alumni networks and connections in other major cities and how often Berkel...

Re: University of Virginia Waitlist

I got this email too. It was pretty disappointing to hear that they weren't going to dip too deep into waitlists - hope this is not a sign of what the other schools will do. Virginia historically uses their waitlist very little, weird cycle or not. I don't think we have enough info yet to know what...

Re: Berkeley C/O 2021

Does Berkeley Law have a gym and showers? You get access to the fitness centers that are a part of the larger Berkeley campus. There isn't a law school specific gym. It seems like one is at the stadium, which is right across the street from Boalt, if I recall correctly. It would be worth asking in ...

Yeah...I posted on Reddit and someone called Vandy and apparently they only have 2 adcomms looking at all of our apps. Makes absolutely zero sense why they wouldn't just hire a few more people, but it explains why they are taking so ridiculously long to get back to us. I withdrew on Friday. I'm not...

Re: Vanderbilt Law School c/o 2021 Applicants

The best way to get a decision this cycle is to have applied to Vanderbilt LAST cycle, for this cycle. Then perhaps you will have heard by the end of March, this year.
