Re: Long Hours
Yeah the shittiest part is having nothing to do at your desk at 6pm and still not being sure whether you can make an 8pm dinner reservation.

Re: Speeding Ticket Addendum?
Just make sure you submit your driving records with your C&F application. I was asked for it in NY and had my swearing in delayed by 5 months because they didn't get my records until the day after the submission deadline. Also, it's totally fine if tickets that you have to disclose don't show up on ...

Re: Lateral: BigLaw to Boutique -- Any Regrets?
I did this. I don't regret the decision. The work I do is more substantive. I made the move as a secondq year corporate associate, so my day to day went from diligence and updating checklists to drafting pretty much all deal documents. The big negatives are that many of the deals are much much smal...

Re: CS career megathread / AMA
I used to work at a big tech company and my first team out of college was me and 3 guys who were labeled "subject matter experts" who were all here from India on H1B visas. Within 6 months, they all got fired and deported, and their jobs were taken by fresh college grads with 0 experience like I was...

what kind/field of startup that was? vc funded, if so which round? New media company that had $12.5 million in seed revenue and was about a year from revenue. Title would have been head of business operations. One of those rare new startups with no tech involved. Nice, how's the company doing today...

The App Academy in person course charges a lot of money but they dont collect until after you get a job. I think companies also pay to have access to students. The online thing is just no strings attached free.

Re: CS career megathread / AMA
How much can I realistically make at a CS job in NYC and how long would it take me to get there with coding school, training, etc.? I know a little bit about coding and used to be a IT/ops consultant in fintech. if you're hired for a position at big-n, then i think you can expect something close or...

Every day, I dedicated at least 4 hours to doing something I enjoy. That thing was usually one of golf, video games, or watching TV. The lectures and exercises are really only 6 hours a day max. You have a lot of time to move your mind to other stuff

Re: Senior Associate
I’m fairly confident that “Senior Associate” is just a signal to opposing counsel that “This guy is a pain in the ass to work across from and all around general piece of work.” Hope that helps! I think you mean “, Esq.” The use of “Esq.” in my state is weirdly and annoyingly ubiquitous even among g...

Re: 2018 Bonus Discussion
Some guy in my firm apparently got 100K for billing 3K hours. A partner said jokingly ppl will feel bad when compared to this associate's performance. I was like nah bruh. Not even. Sucks how billing 3000 hours is automatically viewed as "good performance". I've worked with a few people who have hi...
