Re: LSL Veterans Thread

Just want to bump the thread and make sure nobody out there needs help and is too shy to ask. PM me if necessary.

Re: LSL Veterans Thread

Re-posting since it's been a few months but I'll do a free LSAT session with any AD/vet who is looking for some advice.

Re: LSL Veterans Thread

It wouldn't hurt to come to the negotiation with some ammunition. Have you tried getting stipend aid from one of your school's competitive public counterparts?

Also, I tried knocking the door of getting health insurance covered as a mandatory fee and got an emphatic "no".

Re: LSL Veterans Thread

My timeline was almost identical to CMac. I think three years prior to matriculation is a good time to start studying for the LSAT as you just don't know how long it's going to take to get the score you want. I started September of 16 studying and I took Feb 17 test as my first go. I got the score I...

Re: LSL Veterans Thread

I did not make a specific addendum for that but I did put it into another addendum when addressing growth. It felt appropriate. Awesome thank you! I saw that you ED, congrats on your acceptance! Did u have the GI Bill pay for the seat deposit? And how much do you think applying ED helped your chanc...

Hey, everybody. Long-time listener, first-time caller. . .er, poster. A little bit about me. . .AD USAF MSgt, hit 20 years TIS back in May, current career field not connected in any way, shape, or form to the legal profession. Was planning on staying in for a couple more years, but I'm getting more...

Re: LSL Veterans Thread

I'm done with my cycle. Got into UVA ED a few weeks ago and paid the deposits. Still pinching myself really. 2 years ago I was a college dropout in year 10 of my Army enlistment with an injured back and no real chance of more promotion.

Re: Columbia Law School Class of 2022 Applicants

I sent them one highlighting both my LSAT (>their 75th) and vet status and they responded with, "hey, fam, fill out this need-based request form like everyone else." Literally the only school to whom I applied who didn't respond positively to a fee waiver request.

Re: 7Sage worth it?

I think if you're buying 7Sage for the RC you're going to be disappointed. Yeah he provides explanations to all passages, which is fine, but the main advice boils down to two things: 1. 'read better' and 2: 'get better at finding direct evidence for your answer choices'. That's not to say it's not w...

Re: UVA c/o 2022 Applicants (2018-2019)

I think, more than anything, the word has caught on about trying to pay as little for law school as possible. This is probably both a benefit and a detriment to most schools. Seems logical for the departments to wait until later. Just my perception but 300 students/class seems to be a number UVA wan...

Re: LSAC GPA - UGPA Difference

If you have multiple schools in your history it's fine to just list your degree-granting institution and list that GPA on your resume. Obvious caveat that all previous education still needs to be sent to LSAC and the uGPA will reflect that. If there's just a calculating discrepancy between your sing...

Re: UVA Law Students & Graduates Taking Questions

A few questions I didn't see elsewhere: 1. How much are y'all paying for your phones? 2. Are employment opportunities for spouses with no specialized education extant? Thinking teacher's aides, hospice care, general retail, etc. 3. Is free wireless internet generally good/available throughout the ci...

If you're out of fresh PTs I actually recommend putting down LR for a month completely. You don't lose your basic fundamentals and you get a refresher on test questions.

Re: LSL c/o 2022 Applicants

Resume can reflect degree-granting institution only. However, the CC classes are going to be submitted through your LSAC report so definitely include them in the education section of the application.

Re: Logical Reasoning Tips?

This is admittedly situational but I've started teaching a more pointed concept toward LR that I believe has shown some success. Specifically re: 50/50s I am no longer okay with my students just "picking the best one". I'm at the point where I mandate they take an extra ten seconds and ask specifica...

More updates for fee waivers. I initially sent the request from my .mil so take that under advisement. WashU: provided a waiver code in 1 business day UMich: provided a waiver code in 1 business day Texas: wanted a copy of my CAC (which I’m pretty sure is against regs to send) but I got a merit waiv...
