Re: NYU Students/Grads Taking Questions

Anyone know approximately when incoming 1Ls can expect to get housing assignments? Will be emailed about it or do we need to check the housing platform? I haven't been able to find this on the internet anywhere. Thanks!

Re: NYU vs. Northwestern

Yeah, you wouldn't be insane to take NYU here.

I do think you're right re: NYU giving a bigger grade cushion for top firms, but both schools will get you biglaw just fine and that alone isn't worth 65k. But that combined with personal factors might make NYU worth the additional cost.

Re: NYU ($$$$) vs Harvard

In case you're still making this decision - There's a lot of information and anecdote floating around about this, especially when you're talking to people on forums, at ASWs, etc. Wanted to share some hard data with you and anyone else who might be in the same boat. Via Linkedin (not perfect, but a ...

Re: NYU c/o 2022 Applicants

Anyone else wish NYU was closer to Central Park or something? I love New York, but oof the lack of green space is jarring. YES. It was a bit overwhelming for me at first.. and I'm a city kid. Definitely going to make an effort to live by Central Park or Prospect Park in Brooklyn, both for my doggo ...

Re: Law School w/o intent of being a FT lawyer?

No. 100% no. ETA: this is both a 100k+ cost, PLUS a three year opportunity cost. You're giving up three years that could be spent working on your business ventures and furthering your skills and abilities in areas more relevant to your goals (not to mention your personal life). That's a lot of time,...

Re: NU ~$$$$ vs UVA ~$$$

IMO, everything points NU here. I don't think UVA is worth the extra cost - the schools are peers as far as employment goes and it sounds like NU would be a better choice for your personal life. Second the point of don't read too much into ASW. FWIW, I went to a few schools' ASWs and thought UVA's w...

Re: NYU Students/Grads Taking Questions

If there are any Vanderbilt scholars or people familiar with the program ITT, could I PM you? I'm trying to get a better sense of the institutional support and programmatic benefits of the scholarship. ETA, since I'm here - 1) How tough is it to get a clinic in the fall of 2L? 2) What are your odds...

Re: NYU ($$$$) vs Harvard

Take the money and run. Seriously, NYU will give you amazing PI opportunities and support. Not having $300K in debt (going with near-sticker, since you didn't provide a number) will leave you free to make all kinds of choices with your career that Harvard debt would preclude. Say, five years into y...

Re: Lots of Fulls VS HYS

So I got 34k/year from Yale (I am assuming this will be the same for 2L as well) and I will probably be looking at about 170k in debt total. My parents will not really be helping, but they have offered to pay interest on the loans to keep them at principal until I graduate. I am interested in clerk...

Apologies for butting in on this thread - I was wondering whether I might be able to PM someone working in and/or familiar with this area. Trying to get a better sense of this path and have a few specific questions.

Re: UChicago Ruby vs. Harvard vs. Columbia Hamilton vs. USC Rothman

They say that the $200-$250k price difference between UChicago and HLS is virtually nothing when it's amortized over a lifetime of earnings. This is complete bullshit. Who said this? Name names so this person can be tarred and feathered. It always amazes me how applicants on here will contort thems...

Re: UChicago Ruby vs. Harvard vs. Columbia Hamilton vs. USC Rothman

Absolutely not HLS. I don't know why people keep saying HLS is the way to go for politics - If anyone has anything to back this up I'd love to hear it. Imo, politics is about financial flexibility, networking, and luck. USC also doesn't make sense here.
