Re: Top 15% at mid-T14, transfer to HYS?

With those goals, my initial reaction is that you will forfeit more in terms of connections w/ profs and potential for journal than you would gain from a transfer. The other complication I see is that maybe with the new hiring plan you will have a full year of 2L grades before clerkship competition...

Re: Gov. Questions

I know less about state SG's offices, except that I don't think they tend to hire straight out of law school, either (unless you're talking about a state with an entry level honors equivalent - I think a couple do but it's not common). My sense is that this is the kind of job where connections will...

Re: Gov. Questions

I'm assuming OP means "state solicitor general" by "state SG", and the only states who use that moniker are Michigan, New York, and Ohio. If you legitimately want that position, you should meet and talk to people who have held that title or work in that office. That's not true at all. State SG offi...

Re: State Deputy SG - AMA

@lawman84 Aside from standard deputy SG positions, keep an eye out for the fellowships that some of these offices do. Depending on your politics, California has its Earl Warren Fellowship (2 yrs; https://oag.ca.gov/careers/warren/introduction); Texas has its Greg Coleman Fellowship (1-2yrs, I think;...

Re: Harvard Students and Grads Taking Questions

For those who lived in Gropius: I'm interested in how people fed themselves. I lived in a dorm in undergrad but also had a meal plan. Did people buy most of their meals or try to cook in the group kitchen? Are the group kitchens well supplied/busy? If anyone can provide anecdotal experiences or any...

Re: Supreme Court Clinics

I was a part of the HLS Supreme Court clinic. It was a fantastic experience. Unlike some, it's not a full semester long; it's just in HLS's J-term (so about three weeks). There are ten students, and these are usually split into groups of ~3 to either write a cert petition or a brief in opposition to...

How did you keep cool during the hot days? Did you buy a fan? Stick your head in the fridge?
You will absolutely not regret buying a fan.

Are Gropius beds long enough for someone who is 6 feet tall? they look pretty small in the photos.
I'm like 6'2" and I also lived in Gropius for two years. It was fine.
