Re: OCI Post-1L SA

I went through OCI post-1L SA and ended going back to my 1L firm (though I had multiple offers out of OCI). It's not abnormal for 1L SAs to get the lay of the land. My firm did not take offense.

Only advice is to keep in mind that the grass is not always greener on the other side.

If you take the middle line between both my advice (a meager law student) and big zuck (an esteemed LAW-YER) you get have good grades and a good personality and go to YLS.

Re: UT Austin c/o 2022

Hi, thank you for taking the time to answer! I hear mixed opinions about how UT places for biglaw. Some say that UT is the best for Texas BL and that median can get BL in Houston with ease, while others say that T12>UT for Texas BL. The employment reports from 2017 tend to favor the latter, with 35...

Anyone else get super worried after looking at the Admitted students FB? So many people in that group
It'll thin out after deposit deadline.
UT does this cool thing where they don't actually remove people who withdraw.

Re: Texas Law C/O 2021 (Admitted Students thread)

Any recommendations on where to look for family housing? I'm currently pretty committed to Michigan, but suddenly UT got back on my radar... The areas around the school can get pretty pricey, but you may be able to find something small in Hyde Park/North Loop or the Cherrywood/Mueller neighborhoods...

I don’t know if anyone is interested since we obviously don’t have our sections yet, but the fall 1L schedule has been posted. https://law.utexas.edu/courses/catalog/grid/first-year/20189 This may seem gunner-ish (I promise it's just coming from a place of excitement!), but does anyone have any ide...

If I go to UT I intend on living off campus.

If the bombings persists as it has been persisting, it may have an impact on my decision to enroll. If the perpetrators are caught then not so much.
i guess i didnt think of that.

As a non-native, what would the best place be to live to be near shops/food walkable?
lots of law students live in the north campus/hyde park area. it is close to the drag and some other stuff toward the red river side of campus. also theres an HEB at like 40th and red river.

i will answer questions if you have them. How long of a walk is it from the law school to the Drag? 1L class schedule- can you give me a general idea what hours you can expect to be in class? Like 8:30 - 3:30? 9-5? Depends on your section? Thanks! like 15-20 minutes. also, i can think of no reason ...

Re: How much do you read for classes in a typical day?

i average about 10 pages/class meeting. so that works out to 100 pages/week. which works out to about 8-10 hours depending on how much of that is con law.

Re: Univ of Texas School of Law students / grads taking questions

I'm OOS with no real ties to Texas. How insular are the legal markets in Texas? Would an OOS student be at a disadvantage in hiring (Biglaw or otherwise)? +1 OOS 1L. My ties to texas are relatively minor and it comes up in interviews, but as long as you can come up with some fairly genuine reason y...
