Re: Odds at Acceptance to HLS?
What everyone else has said. Is it possible to get in with a 3.75? Yes. But everything else needs to be absolutely stellar to pull it off.

Re: Odds at Acceptance to HLS?
Agreed. If you took a similar number of hours each semester, should be around 3.75 - 3.8. But as others have said, you'll need a stellar test score, too.

I had a friend ask me about Houston receptions for firms. I work for a boutique and have no clue. Anybody know how to score an invite to one? Or where to find a list?

For cover letters? Yes. I agree with you - that's pretty much how any cover letter for any job should work. Resumes they had several different formats/modes of organization as samples.

Re: Unlocking 1L SAs
Y'alls career service made you use a standardized format? Ours did not. They offered feedback, etc. But there was no standard template or formatting rules or anything everyone was required to use. Hmm, I suppose it wasn't "required," but counseling on formatting and editing was conditioned on using...

Re: Unlocking 1L SAs
Also want to echo the thoughts above about Texas. Many, many Texas firms hire non-diverse 1L SAs.
That being said, ties to Texas are important for snagging one. The firms guard against people who just want a 1L SA and then plan to head to NYC/SF/DC 2L summer.

Agree with Stranger. If you want the south, pick Vanderbilt. Anywhere else, pick Georgetown.

Re: Round 3: Post-Negotiation Options
This is tough because I don't have much insight into how Vandy or WUSTL place in Maryland. If it were me, I'd probably pick Vandy. That debt figure is about what I had from UT and paying it off has not been terrible. A drag, for sure, but doable.

If it were me, I would probably pick not Bama. You aren’t sure yet what you want to do, and it gives you least options of the four/is the most limiting.

I don't have any advice on the character and fitness issues, other than to say I agree with the above. But I will say this guy seems like a bit of a loose cannon. I would encourage you to file a police report of your own about the incident, so that you have documentation in case there is a future in...

Re: How much do curricular focus areas/specialties factor into your school choice?
Would you go to a law school that has nothing to offer in your areas of interest if it was $0 cost of attendance? I mean absolutely NO courses, clinics, or externships offered in your preferred legal specialty. Granted, the school does place well into your preferred geographic location. I am findin...
