Re: Class of 2021: we're basically 1.5Ls now

Pretty sure I just ended my law career today by turning in an absolute dog shit con law exam. I studied hard and thought I knew the material but the exam felt like it was written in a foreign language. Pretty sure I bombed, so now im basically praying for at least a B. But now that I’m officially do...

Re: Deciding if Law School is the Right Path?

I'll tack on that if you are still in undergrad, graduating and getting a non-legal job is a great way to see if you really have an interest in becoming a lawyer. I was dead-set on law school my freshmen - junior years of undergrad but had serious doubts by the end of my senior year. I took three ye...

Hello all, I submit to everyone's wisdom regarding whether I am making the right choice to attend the schools below at their current total COA and their employment opportunities after graduation. I am also currently on the waitlist for GULC, Vanderbilt, and USC (and I do have an acceptance at UC Ir...

Re: Penn Students & Graduates Taking Questions

thoughts on living in powelton village as a 1L? some of the apartments seem really pretty and relatively cheap I live in Powelton Village and rented sight unseen and have no regrets. My one bedroom is $1150/month, but includes gas/water/wifi, so it's definitely do-able on the school budget. No real...

Re: Overwhelmed: HYS or Ruby for PI?

Full stop, there is literally no greater outcome than the Rubenstein scholarship. Not only is it the single most generous scholarship of any respectable law school, it comes with the institutional support of a lifetime. Chicago on the Ruby will net you almost any outcome you want, especially since y...

I find it hard to believe you're getting a full ride at Wash U and nothing in the middle. Agree with Stranger here, you are jumping the gun. Most schools will have financial aid info out in the next couples weeks. Wait until you have at least attempted to negotiate with schools before you start mak...

Here is your admittedly limited LSN profile https://myLSN.info/7htdl4_1-13.jpg You're looking good within the T6, especially at Chicago and NYU. Apply broadly to the T13 and see what offers you actually find. Depending on your goals, you could be looking at law school for free that sets you up perf...

I think in-house is like super dope, tbh.
Yeah me too. I always thought in-house corporate lawyers were bad-ass. Even if that belief is a little misguided.

Re: Class of 2021: we're basically 1.5Ls now

Congrats, Platopus!!!! So exciting! Just had a dank interview for an in-house position. It would be super exciting to get it. Why'd you decide to gun for in-house, if I may ask? DM if you want, I'm just really curious! Cause as a white guy with median grades, 1L SA is off the table, and it would be...

Found this interesting. Apparently Elena Kagan's first two grades from Harvard Law were a B- and a B. So if anyone is discouraged by a lackluster 1st semester's grades, I guess there is still hope.

Before I started a bunch of 2/3Ls told me the social dynamic of law school is basically highschool 2.0. They weren't joking.
Its much more cliquey 2nd second semester, but not quite as bad as high school here at Penn

Fair enough! I think I’m more irritated because it’d be nice to have grades so I know if the study habits I developed last semester were effective before I’m 3 weeks into the spring semester.
 Couldn't agree more.
