Re: Big law from UVA - no journal or moot?

As long as your resume isn't devoid of arguably substantive ECs, you should be able to speak to those things for long enough to mitigate the lack of journal. No one outside of hardcore litigation firms would even consider why you're not on mock trial. Journals are de facto automatic at UVA (much li...

Re: Big law from UVA - no journal or moot?

Yes, I'm fully aware most students are on journals. I was on one, and only know a few who decided not to do one at UVA. It's a "red flag" in that some employers might wonder why you're not on one, but that's on you to be able to explain. If you decided not to do one because you didn't want to do wr...

Re: Big law from UVA - no journal or moot?

You didn't screw up your Biglaw chances unless the Biglaw bubble horribly bursts like has never been seen before. If you specifically want DC litigation or something similarly competitive from UVA, you may be slightly hurting your chances without a journal, moot, or whatever, but even then it's mor...

Big law from UVA - no journal or moot?

Rising 2L here slightly above median. I didn’t join a journal, and I’m not on moot. I do have a summer PI job, a part time summer RA, and some pro bono stuff as work experience + extracurriculars. I’m also probably gonna join a clinic next semester. How badly did I screw up my chances at landing big...

1L 3.4 GPA at UVA Law for Big Law?

Hi, all. I’ve been getting mixed reports about the 1L median at UVA and how being at median affects your chances for big law. Some say the median is 3.3, others say the median has risen to 3.4. Additionally, median has been said to either be a good or just “not bad” spot to be. Which is it? Does any...

If you took the first LSAT cold, 3 years ago, and your later attempt(s) are much stronger, you will want to include an LSAT addendum explaining this and what you did differently to achieve stronger results.
Gotcha. Thanks. I hope to score such that I'll need an addendum 8-)

Re: Spivey Consulting Q&A with Adcoms from Yale, Harvard, Penn, Chicago etc.

Morning, Spivey Team. I took the LSAT cold one time three years ago. This cycle, let’s say that it takes me through the June, July, and Sept administrations to get my goal score... Ive heard that the general rule is that past 3 takes is when adcoms begin to look at your score with more scrutiny. Why...
