Calling all JD/MHA, JD/MPH, other joint degrees

I’m considering adding an MHA to my JD at a t50 school at which I’m a 1L on a full ride scholarship. I haven’t had much exposure to healthcare law, so I’d love to hear from those who work in healthcare that have an MHA or MPH and those that do not. The Dean of the law school highly recommends that I...

You will be blacklisted from every PNW employer if you ever again spell Oregon as "Oregan" or say it like a New Yorker (Oh-reh-gaahhhhn).
Ha! My bad. I promise I know how to both spell and pronounce it. Will shamefully correct.

Re: Pacific Northwest Law Schools

Does anyone ITT know anything about getting into Portland? Is it more or less insular than Seattle? Ceteris paribus, would a Portland firm prefer a top student from an Oregon Law school over UW? Or does UW have that far of a reach? Is this also an area where T14 + strong ties rules? Edit: Correctly ...

Re: Pacific Northwest Law Schools

You'll be okay. You have ties, and it sounds like you're saving on tuition. (If you're not, rethink Seattle U.) We can talk more as you progress through about how to network and maximize your opportunities. Definitely do the job fair I mentioned in a previous post. Your aid to Seattle U isn't condi...

Re: Pacific Northwest Law Schools

For the sake of clarity, could we get a working definition of “ties” as they pertain to the greater PNW and specific markets therein? I’m born and raised in Washington, but haven’t worked with any firms I would be targeting post-graduation. Does that still count as ties? Additionally, what about spe...

Re: Small town prosecutor: AMA

How’d you get your job and why’d you choose it? If you don’t mind, can you ballpark your take home pay? Can you go more into depth on being grant-funded (I.e. is that something you and your boss have to repeatedly seek out/is it subject to change)? Can you give a quick example of your day? And your ...

Re: Small Town Law Incentives

Thank you for your responses. I read recently of a bill that was proposed in Wisconsin that paid $20,000/yr. to lawyers who took court-appointed defense cases. What I don’t know is the other side of the story. I was hoping someone here perhaps did something like that and could relate their experienc...

Small Town Law Incentives

The thought of BigLaw makes me chafe, but I also want to maximize my salary in smaller markets. More specifically, I read somewhere that certain small counties incentivize lawyers to move in and start practices. I’m wondering if anyone here can help me get the pulse of small town prospects. Has anyo...
