Re: Rising Senior, 3.43 - 3.57 GPA, 172 LSAT, Wait?

I'm not quite sure why I want to go to school right after undergrad, but I feel as if it would be best for me to just get everything done right away. I feel like I won't want to go back to school if I take a year or two off :( I felt this exact same way and after time off, I realized that I felt th...

Re: High Scorers - How Did you Prep?

Score: 173 Diagnostic: 162 What materials did you use? I used Princeton Review's Logic Games Guide (which I've seen very few people recommend, but I have a strong PR bias from high school AP tests) because I'd lost the vast majority of my points on LG. I also bought 3 books of the LSAC's practice te...

Re: Rising Senior, 3.43 - 3.57 GPA, 172 LSAT, Wait?

Even if you hit 175+ on your retake, I would take a few years off after undergrad. Your GPA isn't low to the point it'll disqualify you from Columbia, but it might if you're coming straight out of UG because they won't have other stuff to look at. I'm 100% convinced that my WE contributed to me punc...

Re: LSL Why X Bank

I TOTALLY agree - I thought Why X essays were the toughest to write. I'm including a few examples, because they're all structured a little bit differently and also SOMEONE might as well get some use out of them haha. I applied to the class of 2021 with a 173/3.78 and was accepted to all three school...

https://report.lsac.org/VolumeSummary.aspx Not that anyone cares at this point in the cycle, but if you go to the link and click the US Applicants tab and then the your state, you can view how many people applied, their scores, etc. Very interesting. My state had less than 5 applicants with above a...

Re: Harvard Law Admitted Students (Class of 2021)

What’s the calculus for people choosing HLS over full-rides? How are you making the debt vs. prestige decision for yourselves? Before I did the HLS calculations, I set boundaries for myself - I REALLY wanted to go for a variety of prestige and program reasons, but my rule was that if the debt was m...

Re: Harvard Students and Grads Taking Questions

Do you think HLS would let me keep a 6 hour a week LSAT tutoring position in 1L? The only official rule that i'm aware of is that you don't work more than 20 hours a week so HLS won't stop you. Oh ok great!! Sorry, I swear I googled it and didn't see anything haha. Thanks for the information ☺️

Re: Write a diversity statement?

I don't believe that diversity looks one way. People write diversity statements about their experiences that don't have to deal with race or adversity. In your case it might be interesting to talk about how your experience in tech might add value to the law school community. I agree this might be i...

Cross-country road trip to San Francisco this summer and then a flight out of SFO to Japan/Taiwan/Philippines so hmu if your plans are remotely similar.
Nice thing about teaching is I can do this even with my deferral and then take ANOTHER Final Trip next summer - I'm feeling South Africa

For those who have submitted their deferral requests and have been approved, approximately how long did it take for you to get approval? Just submitted one ~two weeks ago (per recommendation of HDS, where I'm doing a joint degree and which suggested I start with them so that I can stay with my 1L s...

Re: Harvard Law Admitted Students (Class of 2021)

Does anyone know what HLS's general policy is regarding deferrals? Anecdote but I'm staying in my exact same job I've already had for 3 years to finish up some projects/leave structures in place after I'm gone and they signed off on it. I think they're really supportive of extra work experience/WE ...

Contigo, come hang out with me at HLS!!

Nah but for real I think NYU, Chicago, and HLS/SLS all make sense. As noted above, Chicago's clerkship resources/class size might help you more than NYU, and I don't think it limits you to the Midwest at all.

Re: Yale vs Columbia (w/ Hamilton) vs UChicago (w/ Ruby)

How much of a debt burden are you willing to take on? It generally seems like the Ruby is the best outcome and well-aligned with your goals, but if you'd be able to self-finance a big chunk of Yale's 250k CoA and it's really important to you to go there, it's not a life-ending decision or anything. ...
