Honestly does any other practice group in biglaw have to write as much shit as patent pros?

Like in terms of pure volume of original non templated bullshit? Cuz man the rest of the practice is pretty chill but writing millions on millions of mind numbing shit is just brutal man

I do not think there is a requirement for the moderator to be sober or competent.
is that a one-off or actually confirming that they do, in fact, still require approval of every single post lol

So, this, if true, is obviously illegal sex discrimination: "Jane Doe 2 alleged in part that the firm had favored a more junior male associate in work and development opportunities even before she took maternity leave and, like her co-plaintiffs, that she was subjected to unfair performance evaluati...

Noticed this post below mine.. .. Hard to follow all that knowing nothing about LRAPs and such, and I'm sure the above advice is great.. Only posting to add that, seriously, just from a straight up pure numbers perspective....that is soooooo absolutely nothing to worry about, especially if you can h...

Re: Student Loans: Payment Options and Numbers

Ahem FRB* could get you down to under 3% but not if you don't live in the right area. Realistically you'd be looking at like 4.5-5% with the other banks (Darien Rowayton, SoFi, etc.) so up to you whether that's worth it or not for losing the protections of federal student loans. I would never pay m...

Re: Student Loans: Payment Options and Numbers

On a different topic than PSLF, I just got back my REPAYE recertification. Not bad. Mine is based on full year employment in biglaw (ish) including bonus and everything.... Still comes out wayyy less than my 10 year flat payments are (based on what they revert me to while processing my recertificati...

Re: so who exactly are these conflicts and ethics and etc. lawyers at my firm?

... do other firms have "a pro bono guy"? It's pretty much everyone at my firm, of course to varying degrees. The rainmakers and proto-rainmakers-in-grooming hardly if ever seem to work pro bono cases. Almost everyone else does at least some and there's no one attorney solely in charge of it. yeah,...

Re: so who exactly are these conflicts and ethics and etc. lawyers at my firm?

Most lawyers at big firms aren’t very familiar with the corporate workings of the place that don’t directly and personally affect them, IME. haha, i mean, sad but true, as evidenced by my own OP I'd say lol. I I honestly do try to make an effort to know everyone though! Just tough to do remotely im...

random curious thought......... I don't mean what do they do, plenty familiar... but like who are they? Our daily end of the day audit letter guy is pretty much a legend. I've honestly never talked to one of them on a personal level - and frankly not sure if I've ever seen one IRL, since they're mos...

Re: Survey of YOUR Block-Billing/Bill-Itemizing Practices

I'm not even sure I selected the right one from the 50000 choices above. I generally see differences between insurance companies and other clients. it still varies, but generally speaking the insurance companies (regardless of which one, and regardless of the type of work and what we're billing out...

Re: Survey of YOUR Block-Billing/Bill-Itemizing Practices

Doesn't it just depend on the client? i mean yea, but i figured it'd be dependent on practice area/or and generally the size of client, with the rough proxy for client size being the "tiers" of firms or wtv I tried to come up with assumption being similarly situated clients would generally have sim...

Survey of YOUR Block-Billing/Bill-Itemizing Practices

In poll, BB=Block-Bill(ing), due to character limit Out of my curiosity....peaked by another thread where someone mentioned that they always block-bill and it didn't seem to be abnormal to some ppl. I recently have been able to block-bill one client veryyy generally that I have done a tonnnn of wor...

Re: has anyone ever heard of

The average teacher salary in California is apparently more like $75k (which sure isn’t biglaw, but FWIW). In states with strong teachers’ unions, salary isn’t as low as you’re thinking. (Stay away from Oklahoma and Mississippi.) thats not so bad then, wasn't expecting them to have gone that high s...

Not gonna happen. Being a HC is at minimum a part-time job (20+ hours per week). You could be a non-essential assistant if you ended up at a firm with a good QoL and schedule flexibility. But I think being even an assistant would be tough in biglaw. yea.... ik.....the sad truth... i dont understand...

Re: has anyone ever heard of

HC, no. But when I was in HS we had a volunteer assistant who was a partner in the local area. He made practice like three times a week. Super nice guy. yea suppose that may be more realistic. i've def had similar professional types as assistants Do you mean literally at a high school, or just high...
