Re: Harvard Law Waitlist c/o 2021

Just popping in to say at least 15 people I know of in the facebook group are either not 0Ls or are people I met at ASW who have since told me they won't be attending. Can subtract from the totals you are looking at. Also I know three in the group who said they were gonna go but planning to defer! ...

Re: Remote creative work during 1L?

After 1L though, do it (assuming it pays enough to make it worth giving up not doing anything instead). For one of my options, I'm being offered $1,200/month retainer for 15-20 hours/week worth of work. To be honest, the work they think will take me 15-20 hours would probably take me 5-6 hours max,...

Re: Tell me about Miami

I'm not saying it's impossible for someone with minimal ties and average or mediocre credentials from a t13 school to land a Miami SA, but the idea that Miami isn't competitive is misleading. Miami firms aren't like Sullivan & Cromwell. They don't value credentials over everything. It's a market th...

Re: Tell me about Miami

I still creep on TLS these days, but a lot of the threads about Miami are either old or not as informative as I was hoping. Anyone have the tea on securing a firm in Miami? URM @ a T10 law school but the grades are NOT poppin'. Above 3.0 but below median. FL ties are questionable. Lived in FL twice...

Remote creative work during 1L?

Since I turned in my resignation at work, I've gotten several offers for remote work (anywhere from project based to flex 20 hours/week to 40 hours/week) for graphic design from former employees' new gigs. Many of them are startups or recent expansions into North America, and the work wouldn't be in...

Re: Harvard Law Admitted Students (Class of 2021)

Did you get an email confirming all of your financial aid documents have been received? For some reason this self-service portal thing is confusing me a bit. I didn’t. I just waited for the portal documents to all mark as received All my portal documents were marked as received, then a few days lat...

Re: Harvard Law Admitted Students (Class of 2021)

Hey guys, I am a 0L applying for Financial aid for this fall, and was wondering from your guys' experience if waiving the student health insurance plan and staying on my parents plan will have a negative effect on the amount of grant aid I will receive? Or does waiving not matter because that grant...

Re: Harvard Law Admitted Students (Class of 2021)

Am I alone in thinking I can't live in a dorm again? I've lived in one for the past four years haha I'm so ready to feel some sense of ownership and privacy Yeah I haven't lived in a dorm since 5+ years ago and I only did it for a year (freshman year of college). That was probably the most social t...

Re: Harvard Law Admitted Students (Class of 2021)

Sooo for the people who are decided already, where is everyone thinking of living? Looking for a 2 br close to campus for my family and me that won't require me to sell one of my children and/or half of my vital organs to afford. I'm beginning to think a Supreme Court clerkship is easier to come by...

Re: Harvard Law Admitted Students (Class of 2021)

Sooo for the people who are decided already, where is everyone thinking of living? I heard that on campus housing gets pretty competitive except for Gropius.. sooo will likely end up at Gropius +1 and praying to get a good window so I can get one of the decent sized rooms. But lol to that happening...

Re: Dillard vs. Chicago $45k

Dillard! Unless you have some other compelling and non-quantifiable reason you haven't mentioned, the Dillard is an EXCELLENT outcome over UChicago especially for your goals (clerkship + litigation not in NYC). For your "down the line" goals, I don't think UVA will put you at any sort of disadvantag...

Did anyone else get paired with a student for admitted student weekend on the wrong weekend? I am attending the first one but the email I got today lists the dates of the second.
What is this pairing for? I signed up for ASW but didn't get an email from a student today.

Re: Harvard Students and Grads Taking Questions

I have a 15 minute walk to campus (and also mainly study at home) and I think it's the perfect distance. That's not really a long enough distance for me to ever take public transit, but I'm pretty sure there's a bus I could take if I really wanted to. I really value the walk because it's time for m...

Re: Harvard Students and Grads Taking Questions

If I'm the type of person who prefers studying at home (I can't concentrate in the library and I never once stepped foot in my undergrad library except for group projects) + I'm used to commuting for work, would it be advisable to live far-ish from HLS during 1L? By far-ish I mean a 15-20 commute or...

Re: Harvard Law Admitted Students (Class of 2021)
